No more "youtube influencer" videos in this thread from me :-D, but I will leave you with some thoughts:
- Running this event in '22 was something I had wanted to do since I was a kid in the '80s, reading the Car & Driver coverage every year. It was truly a dream come true.
- Last year, I had...
Last video is up - co-driver Clyde running the dry skidpad. We were 1st overall...for about 5 minutes :-D
We got home about 10:30 last night, and I've spent today in a haze of tired, doing low-brainpower tasks. It's a satisfying tired...
The thumbnail for the video is Dave Marcus's Supra...
Today's video from Natl Corvette Museum. The morning wet, miserable, and awful for me. The afternoon was much more fun.
Dry skidpad tomorrow back at Tire Rack to finish off the event.
Here's the format:
- 2 sessions (morning and afternoon)
- 1 recon lap as fast or slow as you desire
- Stop before start/finish
- Standing start for first timed lap
- 2 timed flying laps
- Cool down lap
- Your time is cumulative for the 3 laps in the session.
Catching up with videos today. The first one is Eagles Canyon, the 2nd is Hallett.
Eagles Canyon was tough for me. My morning session was dry, but I just didn’t mentally prep very well - I did’t know the track well enough to really attack it in the OLOA time trial format.
Hallett was a...
I don't know if Dave Marcus is on here...met him this week - great guy. Also talked with Andrew and Justin - they're from the Toyota factory team - those guys are fast, nice, helpful, and really do a heck of good job representing Toyota.
No video today - just ran out of energy to edit footage...
Nashville Superspeedway Roval today. I LIKE Nashville - I actually like the tight little infield section, and the facility is awesome. I ended up being faster in the morning, as guess I was a little too agressive in the infield and lost time. That was the first time I really felt the Supra's...
Road Atlanta was 2 distinct events for me. I was pretty bummed after the morning session, but I did manage to pull it together and improve a bunch in the afternoon. I picked 3 of the biggest errors from the morning, made a plan, and executed. My afternoon time shows it...d@mn satisfying.
Today's video:
On the road again, a long transit from Nelson Ledges to Road Atlanta. We'll get to the hotel about 1AM tonight. I did manage to edit and publish the video from the car today, so I can just crash tonight.
I was SLOW at Nelson Ledges today - it's a speed maintenance track...
Relaxing at the hotel in Mishawaka, IN tonight - this is our starting point for the event. The drive from MD to IN today was low drama, got 30mpg adjusted for the shorter tire diameter. Pulled in to the parking lot, and plenty of interesting hardware here. I'm guessing we'll have at least 3...
We did a test-pack of the car this weekend, and it went pretty well. I can still see out the rear view mirror, as that's a pet peeve of mine. Lots of waterproof bags and some garbage bags hidden in there for the not-so-waterproof stuff. Rain prep is a big thing in OLOA.
I swapped out the...
It's entirely possible my service advisor was wrong, but I did ask how many Supra techs they had this morning, and he said they only had the 1 tech. Now...that might mean just 1 guy on duty this Friday, vs just one on staff.
RE the text messages - even though I was waiting on site, they...
Just got home from my freebie oil change at Sheehy, nutshell, positive. Details to follow:
- Out in under 2 hours, but I picked their first appointment slot (745A), which may have something to do with it
- Service advisor was very attentive, and made note when I said "Oil/filter change and...
I've bought parts at 355 Toyota through their website - good communication, arrived on time, rec'd what I expected. I needed a bunch of torque-to-yield bolts for a rear sway bar install.
This week, I'm using one of my free oil changes at the dealer where I purchased the car - Sheehy in...
I have no malfunction with cheap name brand rotors from RockAuto either. Most of the stuff we buy for my LeMons foxbody Mustang is from RA. The reason to buy from FCPEuro is their insane warranty policy.
Not exactly. On the first page of this thread, I posted links to the front and rear rotors at FCP Euro. In that original post, the link for the rears was for the smaller 330mm rotors from the base/4cyl car
I fixed the original post on page one (quoted) so it now has the correct 345mm rear...
