Digging this one back up...fixed it. Above is the FCP Euro link to the correct 345mm rear rotor for the premium cars - I verified against Zimmermann's website. This is a cheaper 1-piece rotor, non-directional vanes. There appears to be a 2-piece rear available from Zimm as well. It is $190 vs...
Dimpling is better than cross drilling, but it still introduces stress risers to the material.
BUT...it's all about your use case. If you're using them on street cars, in normal street driving, you're probably fine. The difference in longevity between a plain rotor blank and a "modified"...

I'm not a materials engineer, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
Brake rotors are heat sinks - they transfer energy from a process into heat. The more mass you have in a heat sink, the better it does it's job. Material and design also factor in, but the easy part to...
Technical Project Manager, work contracts in the Fed and State gov space. Used to be hands on IT nerd for a loooooong time before I moved to a PM role.
We are going minimalist and keeping everything in the car. We managed to get away last year without a spare wheel/tire, so we're taking that path again this year. I have a network of friends with a tool-sharing agreement - different folks to carry different tools, and we share in the paddock...
My co-driver took the car down to Dinwiddie VA/Virginia Motorsports Park for an autocross run by Tidewater SCC last weekend. On the 10.5" wheels and the used 275 Goodyear Supercar 3s, the car was a bit loose, but fun. My understanding is that the GYs like a lot more temp than he could muster...
Well d@mn. I compared the front rotor up against the factory front, but I didn't do it against the rear. I'll do that this weekend. I haven't put mine on the car, as I'm waiting until just before I leave for OneLap to flush the brakes and put on the new pads/rotors.
It's been years since I've run North course - not many clubs choose to use it these days. I will say that the Stevie Wonders are a lot of fun. I was instructing a guy years ago in a Fiat Abarth who was conservative on most of the course, but did the Stevie Wonders every lap with a ton of slip...
Having just done the rear sway bar, and dropping that brace in question...it did seem dubious in purpose. Someone described it as "heavy" - I wouldn't say that at all. The bolts that hold it in are heavier than the brace (anecdotally)
Oh, and for @FLtrackdays , I had a "religious discussion"...
Quick update: F & R sway bars installed, camber plates installed, longer lug studs installed. A friend with a lift allowed me to do the rear sway bar job at his house last weekend - took a friend and I about 9 hours to complete, including new hardware as advised by the instructions. What a...
My tiny sample sized-statistic...I've had a LOT of cars over the years, and my Supra ties with my Boxster for most unsolicited "Hey, man that's a cool car" complements.
Another vote for the Catalyst. My co-driver for last year's OneLap had one, and we really enjoyed the analysis. We didn't datalog with it, as the time trial sessions are so short, there was limited value in that context.
The Catalyst device itself was pretty intuitive, and it just worked...
Having spent time on VIR, running the same course as C&D does for Lightning Lap...if you're not running the cars back to back with the same driver, that difference in lap times is well within the margin of error. VIR Grand is a HUGE track. The longer the track, the larger the variance due to...

Only KW can rebuild KWs. They don't do custom valving based on your requests. If you ever drive a car with properly customized valving, its one of the biggest eye openers there is in motorsports. Speed mostly comes from confidence and the right shocks give you tons.
This...so...
You have some choices, and it really comes down to how you want to affect your gearing and availability of your favorite tire.
275/35/18
285/35/18
285/30/18
295/30/18
295/35/18
A friend of mine (exact same wheel, but different car - Audi TT) just mounted some 285/30/18 on them, and he said...
2 of mine arrived yesterday. Since I already have the car up on jack stands and the wheels off, I did a quick test fit. It looks like it will need some spacer on the front to clear the strut/spring once the car is back on the ground. I have some 15mm spacers in box, ready to go.
I'm gonna guess never Green is an autocorrect of NĂĽrburgring :-D
The 981 Cayman S we ran was a PDK, sport chrono, X73 suspension, GT3 sway bars, a lot more tire than stock, and about 30 hp over stock...so it's a bit apples to oranges to a stock 981. We'll see though. I'm really looking...
Sub 2:10 at VIR-F in a street car is quick. I have probably over 1K laps at VIR over the last 20 years, and I've been sub 2:10 only a couple of times...and all from the passenger seat. The fastest I've ever been as a driver was about 2:15 in my old Boss's BMWCCA I-Prepared M3. That car had a...
