FWD could be plenty of fun. The MINI cars and some of the hot hatches out there are good examples. I say bring it in FWD form if it can be had for $20k and is a fun little sports car.
I'm not surprised, the FT1 concept actually does look like a supercar. Design wise it definitely rivals the NSX. I dont know about the GT. They set a high bar for the production version tho. I hope they can live up to it.
Yep what other major manufacturer could announce a flagship car like this? Every one else is either already in the game or not even playing.
As for the Ford GT there were rumors of it even though it was never spotted. I'm hoping Toyota doesn't decide to keep it 100% under wraps before it...
It's shaped like the Enzo and other exotics so I doubt it would have much trouble in a wind tunnel. Probably have a harder time with safety tests if I had to guess.
I think you're reading too much into it but probably right also ;)
Why edit the video and not the article? i'm thinking b/c the article is AutoNew's property and they can write whatever they want and have seen/heard. The video is Toyota material and they can tell them to yank whatever they...
It hasn't been announced yet but I think that is a good guess based on what the old Ford GT has been/is selling for.
I'm pretty blown away by this car myself. The Supra can't get here fast enough...it's as drop dead gorgeous for a price I can actually afford!
I heard they got Jerry Seinfeld to show up at Detroit for the NSX announcement. Really gimicky. All they need is bring another concept, that's all the buzz Toyota needs for this car.
Lexus and Toyota have separate booths don't they? I think there's room for the GS-F and a new FT-1 concept on the same day......not that I think it's going to happen. Toyota has usually drummed up the hype machine with a press release to let everyone know one is coming. Only one week to go and...
Right but to actually capitalize on the image they gotta make a sports car that actually helps their bottom line like Chevy with the Vette/Camaro. That's what Nissan is missing, a mainstream sports car that people actually want and buy in volume.
Toyota is going about it somewhat backwards with...
I think most of us would be ecstatic if they keep faithful to the concept. That would mean no further concepts though? I have to believe (and hope) there will be one more that shows off not only the design but also some hints of the underlying platform.
Yea weight is definitely the enemy when it comes to any track/road course and certainly not great for general "feel" even in normal driving. I'd love to see what the LS Mustang could've been capable of with a suspension from this millennium. Even the new mustangs can post better lap times...
I would love that but i don't see them offering a 600hp V6 from the factory even with twin turbos. That's super aggressive and would be a total M4 and C7 killer.
But I won't disagree that would be my "ideal" too...500lbs less and 175 more hp than the new M4? Sign me up.
P.S. you are paid...
It's coming. Even if not with the Supra name at least with another name. The platform with BMW is going ahead so they need a midsize sports car to put on it.
Only question is when and how much?
Considering the domestic muscle cars will continue to be the best bang for buck and the new Mustang GT can be optioned to almost 50K, is a porky pig with no carbon fiber, uses a 5 year old 5.0L engine and has an interior that for sure will not compare to what the MKV Supra's interior will be...
