Just guessing here but...it could be your device has a current draw which exceeds the parameters. I'd suggest disconnecting to see if the warning goes away. If so, check the specs on your device to determine current draw. Exactly where did you tap into? There are two connectors there...a...

Not offhand but do what many are doing...just disable it using Bimmercode. Much simpler.

Not to say it'd be impossible but space is pretty slim in the plastic assembly and getting that converter in there would be a tough call. Good idea otherwise tho!

The holes on the underside of the hood connect to the exterior hood vents.

Its my understanding the holes on the inside of the hood serve as functional vents when the "fog lights" vents are opened and the hood vents are opened. Just fyi.
