From the sounds of what Matt Maran had to say, the 40k model will be a nightmare to control. Smaller tires, smaller brakes, etc. The Performance model has enough traction issues already, so I'm gonna guess the Sport model is squirrely as hell out of the box.
Confirmed by KBB of all people. Sport is 40k, performance is 50k. See 1:00 minute mark.
Edit: Also confirmed to be slower than the Supra in a drag race, but we knew that.
Some of those Z folks were really out there thinking that a weak Yen would translate to some kind of deal for the rest of the world, as though Nissan doesn't have offices outside of Japan, and as though they as a company don't like profit. Plus, nobody is going to set the price of a car, which...
I’m wondering the same. I don’t think there are any public release notes for ISTEP versions, but I’ll check if a new one comes up after the release.
I wonder if some of those VSC and other tuning enhancements will end up in a new iSTEP version that happens to be backwards compatible. Guess we'll have to find out!
Nissan updated their press site and confirmed the rumored weight.

Okay, here's the quick rundown. What you need:

There is the option to mess around with the “action plan” when doing the update, but that’s further than I’d be willing to go. Let me see if I can scrounge up the links again and write up the step by step.
You know, just driving around the streets, I don’t notice too much difference. I’ve only tracked my 3.0, and haven’t taken hers to a mountain pass or anything. I wouldn’t even describe the 2.0 as feeling noticeable lighter, just a little less squirrelly due to less power.
My girlfriend has the 2.0 while I have the 3.0, so I occasionally have the experience of going from one to the other. The 2.0's suspension actually feels a bit softer than the 3.0 out of the box, at least when it comes to speed bumps and stuff. It's also way less twitchy on the throttle, and...
A few weeks back, after being told (yet again) that there wasn't an update for a 2.0 Supra, I finally decided that I'd just update the car myself. Back in my BMW days, I'd acquired one of those OBD to ethernet cables, and had set up virtual machines to be able to do everything. It turns out that...
"This one shop in Russia" is what I'd call a centralized location, so I wanted to know if that was also the case in the US (only one shop can do it), or if a larger network of people figured out the secret sauce. I know some people have been resistant to having to take their ECU out and ship it...
So US unlock at a centralized location? Can be done at each tuner with licensed software? A link would be nice, if this is already being discussed elsewhere.
Stealing a modern car with immobilizers, remote kill switches (BMW/Supra Connect) and GPS tracking requires them to acquire the key from you, use special hardware and software to let themselves in, or tow it off. In that case, I’d guess that a manual is low on the list of deterrents.
And most...
It's all fun and games until someone screenshots a post and snitches to the dealer (like that example on FB). Even if it turns out that swapping ECUs isn't trackable (except for the power being cut and having to relearn things/rerun emissions readiness checks), I'm gonna guess no tuner will...
