Not a tuner but I believe the biggest downfall of the JB4 while it is good, it can not change fueling, but honestly if you get a custom map for the jb4 and you are just doing the downpipe intake tune route I think jb4 will be fine
For 600 you definitely need a transmission upgrade. My friend has a pure800 with downpipe intake tune and hes making roughly 520hp-ish on 93 and his transmission is slipping. had to be dialed back from 540 to 520. But for the others I think you're right on the money, need port injection and hpfp...
I say go for a 22, no difference except they MIGHT have fixed the oil burning issue, I have a 21 that was built in may this year and I have no oil consumption issues, just hit 6000 miles
