Just got back from the dealer, the service advisor over there has me setup to record oil consumption, so I've got the tamper proof goo on my drain plug and oil cap.
They insisted (even calling an engineer specializing in the Supra) that the oil temperature is the main culprit behind the failing...

Wow thanks a ton for sharing, I don’t have temp readings setup on my JB4, and I never really noticed it could be temperature related but come to think of it the only time I could get a measurement was after a short drive.
I have returned the car the stock so the dealer can check it out and...
There is too many of us not to have a regular meeting scheduled every month. I wonder if you guys would come out once a month to a private Supra Only meetup?
Was linked here since I have a similar issue. I've scheduled with Toyota for service next week. Wondering what they will do. Seems like they will just change the oil and send me on my way till my oil level is at minimum again.
My oil level sensor seems to be malfunctioning in the same way...
Thanks a ton for this, lots of useful info here:
Here is what I think fixes the rapid oil consumption is the
VALVE ASSEMBLY, OIL PRESSURE CONTROL
Part Number: 23950WAA01
And the unable to check engine oil level is
SENSOR, ENGINE OIL LEVEL
Part Number: 89491WAA01
Okay sounds like this is connected to my insane oil consumption issues? If I replace this sensor, then maybe it will slow down the oil consumption. I guess I can take the time to replace the oil with a higher weight as well.
Seems like their is also an oil pressure solenoid, but if that needs...
As the title states:
I have been meticulously measuring engine oil level but after adding my last quart the car stopped reliably giving engine oil level readings. I have a video to show the symptoms, but once I enter the process to measure oil level, the car stops measuring right around 20%...
I guess ??‍♂️
I don’t see it that way, it’s just a big pain in the ass with no real resolution. I guess I could have them swap in a 2020 two-port motor? Seems like there is no winning, even if I make the “big bad corporation” spend more money on my car and acknowledge the issues.
Until there...
Thanks for sharing. Don't think I would go this route as it's just too much work and pain. Don't want my baby stuck in the dealership service area for months... and then going down the lemon law route would just suck any remaining energy out of me. I'll just keep adding oil. Will up my oil...
Damn you guys care more about my motor than I do....
Seriously... I have a pretty beefy warranty on it. I am technically still within spec for the oil consumption, and I think changing oil weight really only masks the problem. The car hasn't even hit it's first oil change yet, so once I slap the...
looks like I’m due for another quart after some spirited driving today. That’s 600 miles since my last quart was added. JB4 was installed during that time. Not blaming just notating.
off to add my fifth quart, 5.1k miles since I bought it. Still within spec I guess ??‍♂️
I’ll post the last two warnings here and the mileage in case anyone is keeping track.
speaking of… now off to autozone to add my fifth quart of oil. 5.1k miles pretty much exactly. I drive it HARD. Manual says 1k miles per quart is within spec so I just send it and keep a quart in the glovebox.
Nah it just sounds like a headache. Never seen anyone legit been fixed, only engine replacements. Which is a hell no from me. Car won't ever be the same once some monkey tech starts tearing it down to that level.
