thanks for the update Marshall. I’ll do it tomorrow, can I pull the DME up to look at the build date without actually disconnecting the cables? Just checking, cuz that’d be a little easier than trying to remember the color coding or numbering them

For sure, was going to buy it together and save on shipping, but at this point I might as well just install the exhaust and hold onto the downpipe. Just a bummer when there's no clue when the ECU will actually be tuneable

Yeah I just got my car, August build date. I actually have a Z4 m40i, came over here because there are no serious tuners on the BMW Z4 forums (go figure, most of them are probably 50 years old). Had exhaust and downpipe in cart ready to purchase, then found this thread after talking to my local...

Any potential updates over the last week? Curious to understand who actually works on cracking these things. Is it all the way at the top down, like EcuTek type company does it first then they relay it to their distribtuors/tuners?

Well they responded to me and said they can't do it if it's 7/20 or later.

Either way, A90/A91, apparently it's only the build date that matters to when Bosch updated the ECU's, and unfortunately I am past that cut-off date. I'm sure there are lots of reasons around IP, autonomous driving vehicles, etc why they would do this, and less so about giving the middle...

Probably a pre-7/20 A91 but I will ask.

I have, and haven't seen anything of the sort stated by anyone yet. My local tuner said he talks to EcuTek as well, no ETA.

Wish there was any indication of when this could possibly be done - never thought I'd be sad about having a brand new 21. I wonder, will this affect all future BMW's? As in the new M3/M4 as well?

Super bummed to see this as I have a build post 7/20. August, in fact. No idea what to do besides enjoy the vehicle stock :(
