Yeah I don't really understand how far sub a sub-86 could go. Perhaps something like what the Celica used to be, for ~$17-19k instead of the 86's $26k.
I think at that point it's more of an inexpensive sporty car, and less of an entry level sportscar per se. Lots of people buy cheap cars, and...
Seems like I read something somewhere suggesting that there is going to be a higher-performance GS-F after this one, like a GS-F plus or something. Can't seem to find the article now. I might just be making it all up.
Yeah I don't really understand the whole need for different exteriors/interiors on cars. Why doesn't everyone just buy the same thing? Not sure why most companies seem to have so many models in their lineups ;)
Just look at Mercedes. They have an entire range featuring the same supercharged...
Exactly. Nobody does that.
Sure there might be people who go to Nissan to buy a 370Z, and happen to look at the GT-R while that happens to be at the dealer. But they don't go to see the GT-R and suddenly find themselves filling out the paperwork. In my past life as a car salesman there...
I think the nose might substantially remain. Interior will definitely get toned down. You'll definitely be getting your wish on a slightly smaller car.
I would take anything that anyone from a dealership tells me with a grain of salt. Most of that sounds like BS.
I have a hard time believing, though, that manufacturers are replacing engines for free when there's documented evidence of user error. I wouldn't doubt that it happens from time to...
The car looks great!
I wouldn't be so sad... after all this car is just getting introduced. ;)
I'd pick this GT4 over a base 911 any day. Still both of those cars are a little too pricey IMO for what's offered, particularly the base 911. Also personally I'd prefer PDK.
It is irritating...
Two different markets. V6 Camry has about as much in common.
86 doesn't even have a Toyota badge in the USA.
As far as the Supra helping out 86, I don't know... did the GT-R help Nissan sell Z's? It would be a similar effect, but to a lesser extent.
If Toyota is going to have $60k+ of MSRP for this car, no question the MkV will blow away its predecessors.
IMO the MkIV's image/shadow/legend etc. has gradually faded over the years, forgotten by most of the public and even its target market. It's very rare to see one and when I occasionally...
In that case, the coupe is going to be unnecessarily overbuilt and thus overweight.
Also the removable roof itself is going to necessarily be heavier than its fixed counterpart, having its own additional set of latches, seals, etc. in addition to any reinforcement. Plus, all that weight is...
Euro V8s are a bit different than typical American V8s....although these days they are more similar. Traditionally most of the european sportscar v8s have been smaller displacement, higher revving, less torque. And they sell to a very non-american audience outside of America.
Agreed, turbo 6 vs na 8, weight difference would probably be pretty small. However I don't think this car is going to be naturally aspirated. But you never know.

Apparently Mini is looking to add a truly Mini model to its lineup, co-developed on a new platform with Toyota. Could this be the smallest variant of the co-developed modular sportscar platform...
