Yeah, "C8" will be 7, 8 years from now when the current C7 has lived out its life.
All of the current rumors point toward the mid-engine car being an additional model to the Corvette, possibly named Zora.
There's possibility that the next gen C8 could be all mid-engine, but there's no telling...
I've got a 7spd and I like all the gears :) In fact, on the highway I often wish my car had an 8th overdrive gear.
I see where you're coming from, but with as fast as these cars go and the amount of revs they produce there's a lot of room for more ratios.
Now if it shifted like a 18...
For what it's worth, Ford has embraced DCT in some of their economy offerings. As for the Mustang though, I would let them off the hook since it's not really something the target market demands, being more musclecar than sportscar, and being in the lowest rung of the sportscar market competing...
Same old LSX V8 that's in every other Corvette and GM performance car, nothing special. And it's likely to suffer from the same ECU that pulls timing when you have too much fun.
If the car can somehow reside within that mule or if it looks anything like that concept, it doesn't hold a candle...
New GT is absolutely gawgeous.
I don't see how cars like the NSX or rumored mid-engined Corvette will even be able to compete.
Stunningly great design. I can't wait to drive one in the future.
Gas prices look like they are here to stay for the foreseeable future, barring some new major world event. Saudis are firm on maintaining production, and domestic production is forced to remain high in order to service debt.
And yeah the yen is at a 7 or 8 year low to the dollar which keeps...
I don't know about 100lbs. There's not really much to those backseats... the added weight would be due to structural accommodations, if anything. 911s still have back seats and they're very lightweight.
Yeah you probably won't for some time since there's just so few cars on the road featuring CF in any significant quantity (with more than just a hood, wing, trim). Also I would imagine there will be more improvements as time goes by and it becomes more mainstream... I guess time will tell.
Round taillights look great on Nissan GT-R, all of Ferrari's lineup, etc., but I like the departure for this new Supra.
Personally I still haven't gotten over the terrible taillights on the Corvette (really just a terrible rear end in general). Way to cheapen the image of your product by...
More or less seats, extra doors, other BS does not affect insurance price. Rates are set by actuaries who use many factors to determine how much risk there is with any given car... including but not limited to car price, cost of repair, expected claims rates, etc.
Carbon fiber will break into very sharp carbon shards when impacted, which is one reason for Pagani's carbon-titanium weave which is supposed to be more malleable.
A friend of mine nearly lost his leg in an accident where the carbon debris cut through his fibula.
Sometimes the space dedicated to the +2 useless seats halves the storage area of the trunk, so it's not really extra space.
One thing I've liked about the Corvette is that you get a pretty copious amount of storage underneath the rear hatch glass. Similar was the RX-7, although you don't get...
The legitimate companies still produced cars. Nissan gave us the GT-R. Even GM brought out the ZR1. Business as usual everywhere else, just in smaller numbers.
It definitely legitimizes their brand and helps the world take them seriously.
Ghosn has said that the GT-R makes money, otherwise it wouldn't be in their lineup, which is interesting. From what I gather though it is pretty much a break-even endeavor for Nissan.
Options can still add a lot to a car... especially with seat options, nav, dvd, auto transmission, sunroof, convertible, etc. Even stuff like full leather interior can add pounds of weight.
Those numbers look off too, likely dry weights in other markets, as well as being for different cars...
