These are two separate cars, two separate products on two separate schedules. If they come out at the same time it will be coincidental.
It's not a BRZ/FRS.
Yeah just read this morning that it's suspected BMW might show off an M4 GTS concept at Pebble. It's a much smaller event but it gets international coverage. Would be pretty awesome.
Hope you're right.
When the BRZ came out literally everybody was saying you know there's going to be an STI version or I'll buy it when the STI comes out but it never happened.
We'll see!!
Looks interesting.
Biggest question though... if that's supposed to be the Z6 or Z5 why does it say "Z4" on the back? I must have missed something.
Prob ~$50k-$55k and more with options. Z5 will be similar in form to the current Z4, which only comes with a 4 cylinder as base and optional 300 horsepower 6. It won't be a per-se counterpart to the FT1, at least not until a Z5M or M Coupe arrives. The name indicates it'll be bigger which...
Gross.
Lexus has always been a big luxurious plush car. 1st car was the LS. That is Lexus roots.
When Lexus' lineup turns completely hideous and they start making everything out of thin plastic, your comparison will be justified. ;)
Agreed AMG GT is effectively double the price of a C63 AMG.
Lexus sells far fewer sportscars than does BMW, so the effective cannibalization would be larger at Lexus if they had two similar sportscar offerings. The Lexus version of the FT1 would necessarily be very luxurious and therefore end...
Not yet!!
With two of them out there it seems like they'd be more places.
I should be going to Monterey car week this year so hopefully it'll reappear at Pebble... or if I'm lucky, the FT1 II.
$60s is not a lot for a BMW but quite a bit for a Toyota. Also a lot might think of the M4 as a more daily driveable vehicle offering more luxury and wider appeal.
But I agree with you. I expect the Supra to outperform the M4 by a significant margin, being smaller, lighter and more powerful...
