With the most recent "news" being Car and Driver's reported rumors, the wait is considerably worse.
Personally, I was dreaming of the Supra being some sort of Japanese Corvette & 911 murderer with Toyota build quality, reliability and a commensurate pricetag ($60-$70k, maybe touching $80k...
Really!!
It's becoming clearer with each passing day of nothingness that it'll be a long time before we get this car.
It seemed like such a powerful launch, but hey what can we expect after the decade-long wait for the LFA.
By the time this car is on the dealer floor I very well may have...
Yeah it seemed like gauges + steering wheel display + HUD was a bit overkill. + gran turismo instruments if you're playing the game, for quadruple redundancy :)
My brother in law's Mazda 3 has a HUD. I think we'll get some sort of HUD, hopefully it's nice.
None of that stuff is real yet, even the NSX. S660 is a kei car which will not come here. Even the new Civic R is years away from coming here, if it does. NSX is due out anytime now, but we still don't have basic info like an MSRP.
It's pretty much forcing you to save your pennies and just buy new. I suppose that there would be some effort getting on the right list, but it seems like Porsche at least builds enough cars to meet immediate demand. I'm sure the 996 and 997 GT3's are great cars, but if you're spending the...
It has one in Gran Turismo!
There was commentary that the steering wheel display might not make it into the actual car due to costs, but I don't think they've nixed the HUD.
Thing is, BMW has no such I6 engine. To get that much power, you have to get the V8 in the M5 or M6 which is pushing 6 figures. Given their incremental shifts, I can't see them going from 425 to 500 horsepower in their midrange M cars. I just can't see BMW developing some new, more powerful...
Yep! I don't know...
If it's got an M engine then it's going to carry an M pricetag. And if it's got the M pricetag, might as well buy the M.
Honestly though the appeal of this car is that it would be faster than stuff like the M4, for a similar or possibly smaller pricetag. If it loses...
I would take the 6 cylinders out of the GT-R or the 911 Turbo S over the S55 in the M4. But preferably I'd want a Toyota design.
Surely BMW could make more power from the S55 (which is arguably underrated), but it would undercut the M4 and whatever new Z car it's going into, and even encroach...
Holy crap.
Not sure what to think, mixed emotions here. If I wanted an M4, I'd buy an M4. And 2018 MY, conceivably at the end of 2017, feels like a long way off.
If true, a lot of stuff will be done right, like chassis dynamics and gearbox, but we'll likely be stuck with less power and a...
It's very interesting that the cars will possibly share production. All I hope is that the BMW doesn't in any way hold back the Supra.
US production makes sense to avoid import duties from Japan/Germany as we will make up the bulk of the car's market and there are no trade agreements among our...
From everything I've read it's really not in the same realm as the M4. More of a heavier GT. Every review talks about how it feels heavier, and it's not like the competition is particularly lightweight. And it's hard to beat the instant thrust from today's turbocharged engines.
It's great...
For $400k it had better be a monster, legitimate supercar within reach of LaFerrari, P1, 918, etc. If it's anything less than that it's just a joke. It would be a shame if we never get to see these cars on the street.
There's just too many other options at this price level. For less money...
Suddenly the car doesn't look as appealing to me anymore. Unveiled it looked like a $200k hero, now for $400k... meh.
I guess I'll have to wait and see...
