Just wanted to update the thread with my experience.
Dealer replaced the oil pump (15100-WAA03). Went in on the 16th of Sep, was ready on 2 Oct.
Also had the comms module reflash done, so yay, new software throughout.
Dealer said mine was the first one they had to replace the oil pump on...
There’s a loooong history of people debating oil choices on the forum. It’s rather taken on a life of its own at this point and become a source of joy/irritation/confusion all in one.
That said, I totally agree - 5w40 is the way with this engine.
Beautiful car - congrats and welcome!!
On Monday I’ll be dropping my 2021 off at the dealer to get the oil pump replaced.
My ability to check the oil level has gone from frustratingly inconsistent to not working at all. My indie BMW shop scanned the car and it was reporting high oil pressure. 21k miles.
Hoping they will “diagnose”...
But at least it’s a “real” Nissan…. ?
In a world where 3rd party suppliers make all the components except the engine, subframe, and body panels - wtf does that even mean to the “loyalists”?
Send it as is.
Have a good coach ride along for your first several track days.
Catalyst and HANS next.
Get lots more seat time.
Start modding the car when your lap times have dropped and become consistent.
There’s also the element of what your particular roads are like. On Pacific Northwest roads, I find the Supra’s two suspension modes to be very well judged. When I drove it to SFO, however, I wondered if I could live with it in that city. lol
