That is exactly my point. 200hp sounds like a healthy motor, like it should be pretty quick. But with only 150lbs/ft claimed at the crank, and 136-140lbs/ft to the wheels, the dyno graph tells the real story...
It only makes 200hp because it manages to make torque at a pretty high RPM. The...
I'm looking forward to seeing it in nice glossy marketing pics with no camo. I still feel like its hard to judge its looks a little. This is actually a pretty significant pic, first shot of the production car with no camo.
I guess the big reveal for the week is, its available in red!
Oh don't get me wrong, I love the 370z (it has double wishbones up front ;) ) and it has a fantastic motor with a really sweet torque cure. This is nothing to scoff at...
But Horsepower is pretty much a bunch of BS imo. Do some datalogging on your car, your torque curve is your acceleration...
hp is overrated. Turbo power, so it makes some real torque. It will be way faster then the Z even if we don't get the 380hp version, the Z is only 270lbs/ft.
Sure, you screw up your toe it will eat your tires. Whats your point?
Mine is this is the first mk5 we've seen set up for race, and like every other lowered production mac strut car, they've had to crank up the static camber to get the mid corner camber they want. That always comes at the...
That said, I feel like these pics are about the best we've had so far for showing what the car is going to look like without the camo. The shape and proportions of the car are growing on me. Still not sure about the rear end though.
Ha ha, mk4 and mk3 owners, get ready to dealing with the joys of macpherson struts. Crazy front static camber when lowered to get any decent mid corner grip. And shitty wear on the inside edge of the inner tire...
Don't let them tell you double wishbones are unnecessary.
You're welcome :)
Khyzyl Saleem if you don't know, is one of the best autophile concept artists out there. Its a hobby, he's a professional artist at EA, but his Workstation is amazing. If you have never seen it before, I apologize right now, because you just lost your afternoon\evening\etc...
That said, keep in mind that Supra spec 2jzgte's are super hard to get from importers these days. With JDM 93 Supras being eligible to import to the US, and all years of mk4 for Canada now, and the insane prices they are going for (RHD have matched LHD in values now here in Canada), no one in...
Yup, add like every VW ever to that list too.
:puke:
Regarding the alternate color interiors, doubtful. Maybe a different seat and inset color will happen, you can get the new Camry with a pretty sweet red leather interior. But the days of offering completely different multiple color interiors...
Wait and see the specs on the next Z people, a car that will likely make it to market about the same time or within a year as the new supra. You seem to forget the 370z hasn't had a major power train upgrade since it launched... in 2009. Its 2018, its bang for the buck isn't competitive anymore...
They weren't simple at the time, especially the turbo design. Piston squirters, high flow MAFs and Map air metering, steel head gaskets, COP, individual coil and injector control, composite parts used in the name of weight savings, 2 piece oil pan, etc, all fancy stuff for Toyota motors of the...
Yes, and the car was considered ungodly expensive by mid cycle, and was a sales failure here. The 370z starts at 30 and can be optioned up to 40k today. Its playing in the same perf league, it should be competing with it price wise. Its worth an extra 5k on a Z for having a turbo charged motor...
uhm what? Luxury car engines dude, no JZ or M motor has ever come from the factory in a truck or SUV. They are so reliable because thats Toyota's thing, and they were designed for boost from the factory (which truck engines rarely were in the old days). Truck engines are designed for peak torque...
What anger?
The mk4 was 40k, and it was about 10k higher then the market could handle at the time. A 370z starts at 30k today, and performance wise, these 2 cars are very similar. I'm quite certain a Japanese company could have built this thing with the same performance and made it competitive...
