This is cool. I was thinking just last week that I wished there was something like that. Sub’d to see how everything turns out.
Also congrats on your Army retirement. I hope to join that club next year.
I wasn't happy with the body roll either, so I first installed the Euro-spec Eibach lowering coils (20mm drop f/r). It made the car more stable but didn't tighten the rolling up as much as I wanted. I installed some adjustable sway bars and now the car is perfect. Upgraded sway bars are the way...
2018 Camaro SS 1LE (amazing track car, boring styling) and 2016 Focus RS (fun shenanigans, terrible daily driver).
I feel like my Supra is the love child of those two cars - you get 90% of the best of them but with none of the bad parts.
I’ve had two Borla systems on past cars with LS engines and loved them. Great sound, great quality.
I had similar alignment issues with my Magnaflow exhaust but just like in your case it just took a little extra time to adjust it to fix it. No modification necessary.
I was honestly pretty shocked at the 3600lb weight of the Z. That’s barely lighter than an SS 1LE that will absolutely destroy it on a road course, but the Z is a lot smaller. Is the Z keistering lead or something? Where’s this weight coming from?
These posts always come off as a Craigslist “missed connections” post. But, anyway, I saw you at Costco in Hoover. You have a white Supra like mine and waved when I passed by but I couldn’t stop because my 110lb wife was carrying two massive bottles of Costco-sized bottles of vodka and I needed...
I agree, and there were a lot of compromises that GM made in order for it to be such a track capable sports car (same basic design language since 2010, small openings for windows and trunk to keep the body stiff, less expensive steel instead of aluminum, etc.).
The Supra does a great job at...
It’s more than just the tires. I had an 2018 SS 1LE before my Supra and had extensive track time with it. The suspension and differential in the 1LE are pure magic. You cannot upset the chassis over the track curbing, rough patches, transitions, etc.
But the Supra isn’t bad on the track...
My brakes held up fine whenever I’m able to be aggressive on them (late braking). When I get stuck in traffic and people ride their brakes before the corner then my will heat up and fade a bit. Luckily, I’ve found that fewer and fewer people do that as I move up through the ability groups. Can’t...
I’ve had some unintended sideways action at the track in my Supra and it’s really controllable - made me feel like Chris Harris! It is even a little more controllable than my Camaro was, and A LOT better than my old E92 M3. I agree that it’s pretty good at the track out of the box, but a few...
Congratulations!
I was eyeballing one of these hard when I was at dealership. Was dreaming about how affordable expendables would be for track use and the sweet bang for the buck the 86 provides. But I've gone too far down the modification rabbit hole to get my money back if I were to sell my...
I don’t launch my car from a stop so I can’t comment on the wheel hop issue, but I do track my car. The car is less prone to being unsettled over rough patches (like ruble strips) or sudden suspension unloads and reloads (like cresting hills), and the oversteer from things like trail-braking is...
In my case, I’m taking the free oil changes (and the extra 2 I apparently added on when I bought my Supra). Once those are done then I’m doing them myself. Same with my pickup.
The car itself is one of the easiest things I’ve worked on so far - throwing on lowering springs, swapping out the DP...
