Looks like corrosion to me...can see what appears to be rust particles collecting on top of the level indicator. Is this the original fill from the factory...never topped off?
I just unplugged the driver's side sub. At least I can listen to tunes without the constant buzzing. I've gotten used to the slight imbalance...chalking it up to another stupid little Supra quirk, not unlike the wind buffeting issue.
I'd be interested to know if the service mode in bimmerlink works. Are you going to try it? It would make the swap a lot easier than using a caliper piston tool.
Well, probably not what you want to hear, but I doubt that replacing the module will increase the brightness on the older DRL LED strip to match that of the new one. In addition, since it's been a year, the new DRL may be noticeably brighter than the one you previously replaced. I believe that...
Just checking in to see if anyone has found a fix for these symptoms. My steering has started to get notchy too and it's getting annoying ? It seems to start acting up after the car's warmed up and I've been driving for a while.
So, the million dollar question: Is there an option to include the trunk? That would be awesome, if it would unlock, as you approach the car. I wouldn't care if I didn't need to access it every time, for I would just tap it closed, before getting in the car.
There are posts on the BMW forums of this same issue...some have had it fixed by replacing the upper steering column mechanism. Others have taken it to the dealership only to have it diagnosed as a faulty rack...replaced and still have the issue.
I only lubricated the pins. The tape goes on the backings, so you wouldn't want to apply anything else there. The idea is that the tape keeps the pad snug against the piston. That's why it's a PITA to get tha factory pads off.
