I've had the opposite experience. I have three LiPO4's sitting in my garage and an AGM back in the car. Got sick of the LiPO4's just randomly deciding they were done living.

AGM has been rock solid since I put it back in.
Ouch…. good to know! Guess they are more prone to loosing their charge if not used? Hopefully keeping an idle one on a trickle charger would make a difference. Or only buy them when ready to use. It’s been great in my little MX5, driving a couple times per week.

I have done all of this. I'm currently at 14k miles after 4 years.

1) I changed to the Z16 pads. Probably not great for tracking, but for street they're fine. Plus, no more brake dust!

2) I flushed mine not too long ago with RBF600 and the Motiv power bleeder.

3) Motul 300LS 75W90. Don't forget to get a new drain/fill plug!

4) I replaced my OEM AGM battery with the PowerTex 94R LiFePO4 since the car was in the showroom when I bought it so the battery was used up quite a bit by the time I drove home. (The dealer I picked it up from told me to get it reset at my local dealer since I had the battery low light on the way home.). Just remember to code it in the Bimmerlink app.

Additional: air filter (unless you have an aftermarket intake) and cabin air filter (below the glove box) - it's a cheap swap every couple years.
Well said. I tried the RBF600 and it just didn’t last as long as my SRF. The damn research on this forum got me hooked on the stuff ?…. for tracking at least. It’s not in my other ”street” cars.

I put them on trickle chargers whenever the car wasn’t being driven. Two of the three were warranty replacements.

I gave up.

Crap ???

Good to know & thanks as usual for letting us all know!! I’ll make sure not to recommend them to car collector buddies or those who store their vehicles for long periods. Guess they have to be driven on a regular basis ?

That is the thing, this isn't a collector car that sits around. I drive it at least once a week. No reason these batteries should have been having a hard time, especially if I was being diligent and putting them on a trickle charger every time I parked the car in the garage.

The AGM has had zero issues with all this. Hell, my GTI has sat in the garage for a month, with no charger, and that has zero issues with it's AGM.

I probably could've gotten away with a new AGM battery, but decided on the lightweight lithium. Overkill? Probably. But I do travel a lot and leave the car for a week or two several times a year in the garage on a tender. Plus I run a hardwired dashcam (front and rear) when driving and leave them on in parking mode when parked.

Thanks for input,
1) ordered Z26-2220 rear and z26-1867 front instead of z17 series mostly trying to get minimal dust and zero squeak.
for rear installation due I need to tell bimmer link to put brake in service mode? Or can just go out school, remove old pads, compress caliper, install pads, than compress brake pedal.

2) I ordered this to check brake fluid, for $6 who cares.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGHX92V1?psc=1&smid=A1CCV2KTGFBZK&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp
my Homework concluded brake fluid must be change when there’s water, the time frame to get to that point varies. Regardless I’ll still change out fluid within the next 6 months. most likely using Pentosin dot 4 LV. Still doing homework for negative affects of Castro SRF for daily as in does SRF needs to warm up to be affective like racing brake pads.

3) bought this wheel alignment tool so I don’t break my back fighting with the wheel studs.

4) loving the idea of lithium batteries, for the people who had bad experiences was it Powertex or Antigravity? Those are some dam expensive batteries, what caught my attention is the NO JUMP requirement for dead battery. in a Condo and keep car under car cover Monday through Friday. Charger isn’t an option. Nice to have the feature of the jump start. Hell sounds too good to be true. Maybe fake news Worthy.
Also the battery size seems smaller, no issue installing In old battery compartment? No physical mods needed? Other wise it’s install and tell bimmerlink i have a new Li battery at 60ah.
Thanks

Works great on cars with batteries under the hood. Since the Supra battery is in the trunk, under a board, it's a major pain in the ass to get back there to hit the button. I couldn't even get back there, I had to have my wife go spelunking for me and pull the hatch emergency release.

I went ahead and got a more specific LiPO4 charger that's able to wake the battery if the BMS is activated, since I have two of them. Looked like you had something similar on the PowerTex battery thread.

About the price, OEM battery SEEMS to last an average of 3ish years. That’s how long mine did even with a tender being used. I went with Antigravity and it cost about $1,000 with a stated life of 10+ years. I could get an OEM battery from my local dealership for around $500. So my math was $500 now, then again in 3 years, then again in 3 years, then again in 3 years. So I could pay $2,000 within the next 9 years or $1,000 for the next 10+ years. Easy decision if you are keeping the car for longer than even just 3 more years. (Obviously a lot of factors can and probably will affect those numbers but you get the idea.)

I just want to add my experience here since everyone seems to have a different one. Approaching 4 years on my oem battery. I drive my car 2-4 times a month. Never keep it on a trickle charger. Still going strong!

I'd be interested to know if the service mode in bimmerlink works. Are you going to try it? It would make the swap a lot easier than using a caliper piston tool.

There's another threaded hole under the battery that allows you to move the mounting bracket over to fit the smaller lithium battery. It's a straight swap. Yup, then just code the Li battery in Bimmerlink.
