I've seen this happen before in our supras. It's def limp mode. Although sometimes limp mode will simply put your car in low boost and it will be slow as hell, there's also a limp mode that cuts out 95-99% throttle response. Lots of old BMWs did this as well. Makes me believe its something more...

not a fan of those bulky steering wheels (Maybe I'm used to the old momo or sparco thickness) I know @MKV.KAHN on IG has a nice Alcantara on from @Whirlcarbon that was a crazy price around 1600 USD I do love the removable steering wheel conversion on the a90. My buddy has it and it feels awesome
