Just out of curiosity, what parts did you all not matte? I assume the obvious things (lights, windows, Toyota and Supra logos), but what about the A-pillar, side mirrors, etc.? (From the pics, it looks like the red mirror caps themselves are matte’d, but the black side mirror arms, A-pillar and...
I wasn’t digging it with the black top and red mirror caps in the interim pictures but that racing stripe somehow changed everything. It actually all works now and looks really, really nice. As I’ve said like 5 times already, I’m excited to see the finished product - is today finally “the day”?!
I mean, you’d definitely want to PPF matte paint any way but this process is a much more expensive way to get matte (at least $6,000 for just good matte PPF before ceramic coating or anything) than getting Phantom.
Oh wow - yeah, if you could share the video of how you had those taken off that would be great / extremely informative. Glad that I booked my matte-ing a bit later so that I can see how you all did some of this stuff first. ;-)
Or, for those of you who would prefer to have a car that is not only practical in terms of being able to drive with the windows down without destroying your ear drums but also functional in the event of a zombie apocalypse, you can consider using small metal spikes along the A-pillar in place of...
@BigRuski Quick question: You've mentioned here and elsewhere that Gwagons are one of the most difficult cars to PPF - why exactly is that? They seem rather boxy and look as though they would be one of the easier cars to wrap since there aren't really any curves or areas that, to a layman such...
Did you all apply just clear Xpel to the headlights? From the picture above they and the Toyota symbol on the front almost look a little blacked out but it may just be the lighting.
RRKnight posted some photos of the crease in the Xpel thread - you really have to zoom in to see it. This is turning out to be great - thanks for sharing the pics!
I completely understand - the only reason I got black is because I think that it would look the best in matte (I don’t plan on keeping it a glossy black). I don’t think that you can see all of the lines and curves of the car with the normal nocturnal black it comes with, which is why colors like...
I almost wouldn't even call it red from what it looks like in person. It seems almost more maroon-y or something darker than a traditional "red." I still think it goes well with the black / white so I'm glad it has it but it is definitely an interesting color.
I guess pairing up with a German company and using a Canadian production/assembly facility located in Austria as a Japanese company is not the best way to go about things if you want to have any idea when your product will arrive in the United States...
Considering that #2 was in California and the dealer was asking for a $50k markup, I would be surprised if it's ever worth what that person paid for it. As the VINs show, the actual LE #s seem to have been assigned somewhat randomly and not necessarily in the order in which the cars were...
I was curious about this since people still bring this up from time to time so I contacted them. Below is the response I received (I'm redacting names only). I must say that it was extremely generous of them to answer a question out of the blue like this from a random gmail account (they always...
