I really appreciate that you consistently say "where is the data to back such and such up" and then also you provide the data for parts you purchase. Probably in part due to my job where its always "that sounds great, show me the evidence" and we frequently find the evidence doesn't support...
Haven't read the whole thread yet but my view:
- I've had my car since April and would say I drive it 60% of the time. Pretty much will always pick the Supra unless I know either 1) I'm just going to sit in rush hour traffic or deal with downtown parking; 2) thunderstorms likely (don't mind rain...
It took about a week (whereas I also emailed a question to AWE and received a response in less than 24 hours). Made the decision to pull the trigger on AWE all the easier. I figure if I really feel I need the valve after installing AWE for a while I can also resell it and then try again, but I...
In case anyone was curious, I did reach out to Magnaflow as to whether they sell replacement tips. Below is the response I ended up with:
Unfortunately, we do not sell just the separate components from within our systems. The kits are pre-packaged as kits and we do not have a separate part...
Shot them an email shortly after I posted that as it dawned on me that would be the smart move. Well fingers crossed, if they sell those and its not a ridiculous price you'll have that exhaust sold.
The purpose is so you can ecutek, which is going to have more features than even the latest bm3 and some top tuners apparently prefer. My understanding is that for 99% of users, bm3 is sufficient and the whole "get an early ecu and clone" exercise is unnecessary.
Does anyone have a link to the non-resonated touring to resonated touring conversion? Looking at the AWE site I'm not seeing anything other than a track to resonated touring conversion, but could have sworn something existed for much less than $795+shipping...
Good to know. The funny thing is the next problem is how people's monitors or phones are calibrated and whether that will accurately display the color. On my computer monitor your before picture actually more closely resembles how my car looks.
I've used a bunch of harbor freight stuff. Mainly stuff for home renovations but I do have one of their low profile aluminum jacks to supplement my quickjack and its great. If I'm going to use something only a handful of times per year and I can get it for half the price at harbor freight I tend...
How the butt dyno with the new tune - everything you hoped for? Seems like pretty solid #'s from just basic bolt-ons and ethanol (though honestly I don't know what is typical off the top of my head)
I did not find taking the badges off challenging at all. First I put painters tape around the edges of each badge as close as I could get. Next I took a hairdryer and aimed it at the badge for at least a couple minutes to warm up the glue. Finally I took a trim tool and used it to get the badge...
I know it just won't end. At this rate it seems like once it finally stops hailing/storming on the regular winter will be right around the corner. But I'm just being pessimistic looking out the window as I'm going to bail early from work to go to the gym and now have the challenging decision of...
It seems to be hailing about 3x week all June here in Colorado this year (just stopped hailing here in Denver 5 minutes ago). Not really an exaggeration. It's the main thing that gives me anxiety driving around this time of year (besides how many dumb drivers there are on the road) so I put a...
I literally haven't used my horn because I have no interest in sounding like a clown car. This is on my to-do list. I do recall seeing a post recently where someone actually replaced or upgraded it through the wheel well. Though if the bumper is for sure coming off that is the way to go.
I had a similar reaction. Turbo 4 cylinder can certainly be done right (Cayman S) but to me it just doesn't make sense in a car with 50% more weight, especially a car that has historically leaned towards being a muscle car.
Any issues with the magnaflow other than the tips? Sounds like you're loving the sound. Wouldn't mind convincing myself to go magnaflow and save myself a few hundred bucks.
Did you move on from the FI exhaust and find something you like better or stick with it? I've got OEM+MAP downpipe (same cat as AA) and planning to go FI exhaust or Magnaflow, but have leaned towards the FI since it should have less drone and I love the quality along with having valves on both...
I'm guessing they will offer to sell or replace the tips. They are a relatively large company and I don't see much negative said so I've got to think they have decent customer service. Really though I just want you to reach out for my own purposes so that I can know if replacement is an option...
