  1. More power, a danger to warranty?

Ha ha ha - thank you @Vivianosboy! Apologize if I came across as speaking to someone in their 20s - the "adult" comment at the end. GenX dad on this side! The Toyota/BMW collaboration was the main reason I picked the Supra. I've got 20+ years on the BMW side (M3s/F30s) so I love the parts and...
  2. More power, a danger to warranty?

Ok so it appears no one is really answering his questions, so I will (nice old dad that I am)... YES. Once you add something of your own to your car, all warrantees related to it are now void. Examples are: 1. You add a wing and drill holes into your trunk. It starts to leak and shorts out...
  3. Wing/Spoiler options

It's a bit of a crap shoot honestly. I knew I didn't want a wing that I had to drill into the rear hatch so I shopped the stick on duckbill style... and bought about 4 wings (ebay cheap, "recommend by this forum" Amazon dry carbon, ABS, used Taiwan carbon). In short, they *ALL* have some sort...
  4. Supra broken into, Need help removing glass from window regulators.

So, brother-in-law car window got smashed in a car robbery this last weekend. Cost to replace in cash... $300 parts and labor (New Acura.) This is San Francisco Bay Area - so not cheap. Just putting this here in case people may not have the time, talent or tools to DIY.
  5. Supra Audio

Try restarting radio by holding down volume button till Idrive restarts.
  6. First time Supra owner, bumpy ride

So 20+ year BMW owner here. I've got an X3 (wife) and a 4 (son) in the driveway. Just sold our 09 328i. All 3 of those cars represent the same 2-3-4 platform from BMW for the last 10 years. So I get your wife. The Supra/Z4 does ride *differently*. Some thoughts: 1. Short wheelbase - the Supra...
  7. OEM Amp power connector

Have you tried the BMW side? Namely the 2-3-4 G-series cars? I believe they use the same audio system. But thinking with so many wrecked Supras, a BMW junkyard might be a good place to look.
  8. Race/AutoX Guys - Is there a rear toe kit to lock toe settings?

@razorlab - thank you for your feedback and time here! I'll take your insights into consideration. The little rubber boot would be handy for street cars. I can see debris and moisture settling onto the bearing - not a big deal with race cars but mine's a daily so something to consider. (Later)...
  9. Race/AutoX Guys - Is there a rear toe kit to lock toe settings?

@razorlab - thank you. Camber has held up on front and rear. As well as toe-up front. For some reason the BMW rear end adjustment with toe just like to slip. My 435i also slips out of adjustment quite quickly. There's some threads about using a rubberized end of the arm versus a spherical end...
  10. Race/AutoX Guys - Is there a rear toe kit to lock toe settings?

@razorlab - thanks for the reply. Any reason I should skip the cheap alternatives like Megan for $200? I'd lean toward the SPL or Verkline simply because the build quality seems better and +$200 more is moot if I plan on keeping the car say until I am too old to drive it anymore.
  11. Race/AutoX Guys - Is there a rear toe kit to lock toe settings?

Hey guys - noticed my rear toe-settings went out of spec just from hard driving around town in the last 8 weeks. My tech mentioned something about a rear toe kit to help keep toe settings set. I've seen the simple bolt and weld-in bracket as well as replacement arms. What are the solutions you...
  12. Catted downpipe with no tune implications?

Ah, correct, the ONE exhaust valve that opens at WOT or in Sport.
  13. humming noise from suspension?

Or tires, if they are worn or out of alignment they get really noises and are known to hum.
  14. Catted downpipe with no tune implications?

If sound is what you are after, I believe (edited) the exhaust valve can be programmed to stay open using bimmerlink/code or heck even unplugged. So the sound you'd get is the sound the car makes in sport mode. Cheap and no need to buy anything expensive. (But guys let me know if I am wrong -...
  15. Rock guards Aus

I'm working on modifying the stock BMW F30/3 Series ones. They sell for about US$40 for a full set of 4 and are injected molded. Only modification looks like just adding some spacers and drilling different holes in the splash guards themselves. Tackling this project soon.
  16. Replacing paddle shifters questions/comments

So to pull connectors from each other... needle nose pliers and maybe a small flat head screwdriver. The latter to gently lift the locking tab and then the pliers to GENTLY pull the male from the female connector. Airbag... use an OLD flathead screw driver, but file a v "notch" into the...
  17. Clutch Slipping Issues and Warranty Denial

Well don't call yourself an idiot! :) We are all learning. But I was thinking more about this. If your clutch switch is dead/dying, that could explain your rev matching issue because the cars ECU doesn't know if you engaged your clutch. If so, another case for replacing that clutch switch. Rev...
  18. Clutch Slipping Issues and Warranty Denial

I agree, if I recall right, BMW puts a switch on the top of the clutch. It's easy to spot. Those used to die after a while and the car would not start. Switches usually are pretty cheap, $30-$45 last time I bought one for my E36 M3. If it's cheap enough for the Supra, easy to replace and try.
  19. Clutch Slipping Issues and Warranty Denial

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. The rev matching is designed for the stock clutch. The 8 puck you are saying is really hard to push in is *actually* how high performance clutches are on German cars. They are *super* heavy.
  20. Is Your Exhaust a Little Too Loud? Try This...

Thanks for the heads up! Pretty amazing when companies take the time to actually use a bit of science. I snapped a screenshot of the muffler design....
