  1. Failed Emissions

Agree with both of you. Tailpipe testing is part of the process, fail the OBD or tailpipe and you are done.
  2. Built-in NAV simultaneously with CarPlay NAV no longer working on iOS18

Personally, I want a 10.1" screen versus the 8.8" (been looking at retro ideas)
  3. Failed Emissions

What's funnier, it's not really even emissions testing either. I talked with the SMOG guy when he did my 435i. He just plugged in the OBD2 connector, checked the 6 or 8 "ready" categories on his display (I saw them and they looked A LOT like the Torque app). He then looked under the hood, ran a...
  4. Failed Emissions

I was too lazy to do ALL the steps :p. So I just flashed and drove my normal week, albeit down like 80hp. But oddly enough, the car got better MPG flashed. Intake engineering friend of mine said not unusual, he said it was to save the catalytics, so the stock mix tends to be richer.
  5. Affordable front lip + duckbill spoiler combo

So for the actual front splitter... The self tapping screws and double stick tape won't hold. You will need to drill it - in fact drill and use a nut, fender washer, and nylon lock-not combo. I've hit curbs and truck freight fasteners on my 4-series BMW splitter, it did not come off. (The BMW...
  6. Failed Emissions

Or just flash back to stock, relock the DME and drive about a week. I have the BM3 on my 435i. I flashed back to stock, drove the car for a month to assure ALL parameters and check were a go, checked using the Torque app and passed the CA Emissions. Did this last fall in fact.
  7. Oil leak under boost help me

So, BMW valve covers and gaskets can be REALLY finicky. With the OEM stock ones, if the cover doesn't seat straight, it'll leak. My opinion, if you can see oil leaking from the valve cover seam, maybe get a new valve cover gasket and redo the valve cover. Be sure to torque it using a torque...
  8. G80 M3 826m wheels on my supra ... video and pics

Run a ceramic pad. Ran those on my BMW 435i with matte black finish. Never had to wash the wheels for dust.
  9. G80 M3 826m wheels on my supra ... video and pics

Yep and it's a forged wheel. Pretty much bulletproof. The rub sucks, that's my only apprehension as I tend to charge the corners when I drive. But thinking stock suspension giving back that inch in height would help that. But dear GOD that exhaust sounds sweet!
  10. Manual vs Auto (apprehension)

So you are saying it's a self-esteem issue? Just kidding brother. :) FWIW logged over 100,00 miles/5+ years in stop and go traffic and bridges commuting into SF to the point of tearing my meniscus pushing that clutch in. It can take all the joy out of driving a stick. So use case is something...
  11. Manual vs Auto (apprehension)

If you commute in stop/go traffic for hours at times, a manual will get old really fast.
  12. WTB 13mm/15mm Spacers

So I posted about the Amazon ones above for $100 for spacers and bolts... And guess what happened... - After months of bombing on/off ramps - Driving on the sidewalls from cornering - And countless trips to work avoiding drivers who have no business driving The front wheels are still on. The...
  13. Swift Spec R springs

Would you mind posting the springs rates and drop? Thanks!
  14. Ecutek tune causing OBDII emissions to fail

All stock save the tune. On the BMW Forums, no one is getting passed with a DP as it will throw a check engine light as well as fail the visual. IF you want to check the readiness, grab your Android phone, OBD2 adapter and the Torque App. When you are computer ready, you'll see the top results.
  15. Ecutek tune causing OBDII emissions to fail

At least in CA, emissions testing is more about computer checks than actual emissions. I ran the BM3 in my BMW 435i. Just flashed back to stock for a month and smogged it. Passed just on OBD check alone. But yes, they got out the mirror and looked for anything not stock.
  16. Tires for Gravel/Rough Roads

So less sticky tire? The Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 might work, It's more of a touring car (just driving around town/commute tire) that delivers maybe 75%-80% of the performance of the Michelin. It's also pretty cheap at around $1000 for a set of 4. If it helps, it's A LOT quieter tire than the...
  17. A public endorsement of Rexpeed

I asked questions before and after an order - through their website AND over eBay. They answered within a day both times. And shipping from Taiwan - I ordered on a Sunday, arrived on a Thursday (West coast) by FedEx.
  18. First time buying tires 18x9.5 +25 and 18x10.5 +32

I like the Yokohama ADVAN Apex V601. Set of 4 is less than $900. If you stick with the stock size, you'll have a slight stretched look. They ride similar to the stock Michelins and stick as well in turns. I'd say easily 90% of the performance of the Michelin Pilots for $250-$500 less...
  19. What can the Supra beat or keep up with on the road ? Stock

A bigger question might be, how are your abilities to keep the car on the road? Not trying to disrespect you man but there's A LOT of salvage title Supras for sale out there. If I may suggest, the BMW Car Club of America sponsors track days with in-seat instructors. A guy will physically tell...
  20. First time buying tires 18x9.5 +25 and 18x10.5 +32

OK so, tires aren't cheap. Before I offer any advice, what kind of driving do you do? 80% commute to work/school, 20% track weekends. Do you drive like a maniac or just cruise around town?
