While not what you're looking for, it would be a million times easier to probe the CAN network via odbii with something like a raspberry pi and send that output to a second display panel to show the information that you're looking for.
I was thinking about building something to replace the HUD.
I was considering it.
My free track day expired and NASA's site is pretty confusing as to what specifically I should sign up for. This is a little intimidating for noobs.
Even if the key turns off eventually, proxy keys can be created with a few handy tools on Amazon. The criminals just need to time their approach, basically, wait for you to get home and their tools to create a proxy key. Then come back later for the car.
I suspect the reason that the stolen...
In stock form, the Supra is pretty fucking fast. It doesn't seem like it on paper because there are a lot of cars that out accelerate it. But in reality, the capabilities of the car are so far beyond what you can use on the street, that it's either, a little boring to drive hard, or you...
This isn't a hoax or insurance fraud. Relay attacks are very effective for stealing cars, but at least they are easy to prevent with a faraday cage key fob holder. They are pretty cheap, and you can test if they work by trying to start your car with the fob in the cage - if it doesn't start...
Absolutely. I'm kind of hoping Toyota comes out with some factory performance upgrades, like they used to have. I'd buy an Toyota tune in a second if they came out with something like Ford/Chevy have for some of their turbo cars.
It's much easier to get a tune to pass CARB than to...
Nice write up.
No surprises that a track-focused Porsche is not as fun on the street as street-focused sports car. I think a Cayman S is probably a better direct competitor for someone who wants to drive primarily on the street.
Former long-time Mustang owner here.
There's a reason that Ford is adamant about handing reviewers Dark Horse Mustangs with the handling package (CF wheels and Trofeo tires) - the handling and overall driving experience is crap when equipped with the tires that 99.99% of Mustangs will leave the...
Underrated comment.
It's going to be a long fucking time before anyone knows if either of these cars hold their values or become collectors cars. The whole car economy is still somewhat fucked, so extrapolating near-term future values based on recent valuations is a fool's errand.
The people...
Couple of things: A) they don't produce the Trackhawks anymore, they stopped in 2021; B) the Trackhawks were like low $90s starting in 2021, so not exactly cheap. The TRX starts in the high 80s. So roughly the same price category as the trackhawks.
People are so jaded. 12.3 in the quarter is fast. And for a 6000+lb, 8ft tall brick, it's incredibly fast. Yeah, it's expensive, but it's an amazing achievement.
And that motor has a lot of headroom. Chiller/pully/exhaust/tune examples are putting down mid 700s at the (gigantic) wheels. With...
I mean, they are limited to a like 100MPH top speed right? #JustTruckThings So we are all bound to win in a long enough race. But 700HP and AWD is no joke from a stand still, even lugging around 3 tons. Plus, I doubt any of these remain stock for more than a month.
I appreciate the absurdity...
To be fair, you used launching as an example of where the CDV has a negative impact. I just brought some hard data so we might compare notes and test that idea. As my personal observations are that the CDV helps with launching, especially at the track.
I have noticed this too. It's...
