I don't doubt this considering how much power Australian tuners have been able to get out of that 3cyl 1.6L.
So far the Celica (in AWD GT-Four homage configuration) and MR2 (possibly also in AWD configuration) sound more like they also will be using 400hp versions of the new 2.0L turbo four...
This is lining up what with a lot of accumulated hints over the last few years:
--The Supra MKV's success allows an MKVI generation to be greenlit but now all in-house
--Toyota develops a new in-house sport coupe platform for both the Supra and Lexus which will be used by both brands (I...
Not mentioned in either video article was the existence of a Lexus RC race car test mule at Toyota's facilities with this new 2.0L turbo engine in RWD non-hybrid gas-only form making a claimed 600hp... and bolted to a 6-speed manual transmission.
That does suggest at least the possibility of...

The bold emphasis in the article quote is mine. If the four cylinder with hybrid tech route is the direction they're going in and if Toyota is doing all the engineering themselves the four...
https://www.thedrive.com/news/toyota-aims-to-surpass-2jz-with-next-gen-high-performance-engine
This is a very tall order goal to meet with two less cylinders but even if Toyota hasn't made an engine capable of 1300whp-2000whp that is ridiculously overbuilt with a very thick high nickel...
I can't wait for this new turbo 2.0L four cylinder to come out. The MR2 using it will be a limited production model but the higher volume Celica in the trim level with this engine and some version of the GR-Four AWD system (hopefully with much better rear diff cooling) will be one hell of a...
Driftmotion has been around for a long time and is a very good vendor that supports the older MKIII and MKIV Supras as well as SC/Soarers, the GS/Aristo, JZX90/100/110 cars and pretty much any Toyota model or swap car that uses a Toyota JZ inline six engine with a turbo.
They're well known in...
The current Miata is great but I didn't consider one since it is a two seater and I needed a new daily driver with more room inside than it provides. The GR86 is the one you can actually use much more practically. I bought a 2023 last year and have been very happy with it.
That being said I...
Suzuki would love to market a new Cappuccino. The styling here looks a little overly busy on the front end but I'm glad they're starting to imagine it.
That's a very nice Porsche! I haven't had direct experience with the 968, 951 or regular 944 (non-turbo) or even the 924 but you've got one of the best of the range and even though it's from another era without some modern comforts I think you would regret letting your 968 go. Porsche is...
Yes. 92-00 SC's (and 91-00 Soarers) are long cars. Mechanically they're nearly the same as a Supra MKIV (since the MKIV was heavily based on their chassis and suspension) but they ride a bit differently and are very much big luxury GT coupes.
You do feel the wheelbase difference between an MKIV...
Does OS Giken make any twin or triple disc clutches for the MKV yet? And for that level of torque?
I love the OSG twin disc I have in my SC300. They've got to have something developed for these cars by now.
The Uniclutch product has caught my attention for Supra MKIV applications but I...
Yep. It's mind-blowing to me that back in the day a very modestly powered SC300 was very close in price to a fully optioned Supra MKIV Turbo.
One correction-- No Lexus SC300 ever came from the factory with an LSD standard or as an option. Some Canadian SC400's did get the same 200mm Torsen T-1...
It shouldn't be axed based on what we've been hearing so far but the info from rumors are very vague and complicated at the moment and some of the relevant information to connect and try to make some sense from is separated by a couple or more years.
The current model will go away yes, perhaps...
I see that, yes. And in addition I like how they're showcasing the 1998-2005 Altezza RS200 sedan in this episode. This would fall right into line with the rumors that a four-door variant of the GR86 is in the works... since it is being based off the current (and soon to be outgoing) RWD Lexus IS...
As a longtime anime watcher I find this series they're doing a bit cringe but I get it as a marketing exercise.
However for the little hints and tidbits about what they're wanting to do and emphasize in their GR lineup it's nice with highlights for the Altezza and MR2 lineage in this one.
I like the look of the coupe version. I'm not in love with it the way I love the lines of the MKV but I like it for what it's trying to be. The sedan version looks decent too but a coupe is almost always better than a sedan IMO.
The 420hp I-6TT engine is not going to be desirable bu the 525hp...
This was my point all along so I'm glad it finally occurred to you, albeit very belatedly. Bravo sir, bravo. slow clap.
It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you don't. Others do and they also care about the other cars that GR is developing which has been the purpose of this...
In that case you'll have to assume no more GR or Lexus performance or enthusiast model generations will come out after 2026 since by that logic there's no way either division is working on anything new.
I'm not sure why Toyota would or should discontinue the GR86 when it's very popular and when...
