The naming convention I think is just the way Toyota Australia are naming their sports models, the 86 also has GT and GTS trims. For the UK market they are the same with the GR Supra and GR Supra Pro, and the GT86 and GT86 Pro. Just different names for the (I'm assuming) same trim levels.
Looking at Page 300 of the English manual makes me think these might not be the final version. Very clear BMW logo on the car in the image's wheel! Still great to get a look and loads of useful info.
Great comparison, interesting how a lot of internet comments say "I'd just save money and get an M2" but in this test it's nowhere near. Cayman definitely seems the closest rival at the moment. I'm eager to see how they both drive myself, got a Cayman test drive on the 15th and the Supra on the...
EU emissions regulations are getting tighter and tighter constantly. I think this is another reason why Toyota partnered with BMW, they already had straight 6s built in Europe to all the regulations to work from. It's also why they had to do this now as if they developed their own within the 3...
Yep, for the same price here I can get a Cayman S. Hopefully going to Porsche in the next couple of weeks for a test drive in the lead up to the Supra drive so I can make a proper comparison.
Not sure if it's been posted yet or not, but here's a Top Gear road drive review on UK roads. Previous was more track focused and on smooth Spanish roads.

The pricing is more like this I think in most markets from what I've seen. The US pricing is the anomaly with it being 50k.
The UK price comes out to 66k USD and German price comes to 70k USD with direct currency conversion.
The US market definitely seems to have it best with prices, but...
I'm not sure if it is possible, but I know Jaguar are apparently doing software updates to the exhaust to meet sound regulations. My Dad told me his F-Type R got an update to quiet down the exhaust in normal mode at its most recent service but leaves sport unchanged. I wonder if it could be done...
If they do this and make the parts backwards compatible to launch cars, available from the dealers/Toyota directly, and since fitted to the newer cars from factory make it so that it doesn't void any remaining warranty, I think they'll really be on to a winner.
Great video, and loving reading all the questions and answers here too! Making me really excited for seeing it for real and the drive in June.
Sounds like the performance and handling is exactly what I'm looking for, just steering feel is what I'm most interested in.
I've seen mentions of a...
The official UK customer production drives are at the end of June, so either they work for Toyota, a media company that's already had a drive, a tuning company with access or they're speaking shite.
I'll give the benefit of the doubt though. What exactly about the drive was so disappointing...
It might do, I remember a lot of the pre-production reviews thought it felt like around 350hp and some said maybe a bit more. I can't imagine that they would have made it feel slower than that with the extra tuning time etc. Just have to see once the reviews come out!
I'm going with yes, most of the pictures of the cars outside the factory and on transporters etc all have mirrors folded. Could be wrong though or they have been folded manually.
Bit of a faf having it so far south and living in Scotland... And a Monday-Tuesday isn't that convenient as now I'll have to cancel like 30+ patients to make it down.
Oh well, if that's the only opportunity to test it out then that's what it will have to be for me. That sucks about being in...
Reading that review of the Z4 I agree with all of it. It is fast, strong engine and good gearbox but it is overall the steering that lets it down. It did feel numb on my test drive and getting back into my 86 you really notice the difference. If Toyota put the steering from the 86 in the Supra...
These comments about the driving position and feeling locked in like an F1 car makes me think people are jumping in too early saying "not driver focussed like the last one" sit in it and see first.
But at the same time it seems they've not gone for a driver focussed dash, but a driving focussed...
