Can’t you just pull out the emergency release all the way until it reels back in? I would think it is just a coil of cable on tensioner that needs to be “unlocked” by pulling the cable until fully extended for it to reel in.

I pulled tape on mine. 22” and 21”. I bought some Michelin XTs and they have the adapter in the box. I haven’t changed them out yet but I see no reason they won’t work. I also just verified online and Michelin as 22 and 21 inches for the 2020 Z4.

I doubt that. These parts can be cranked out by the simplest of shop tools in mass. A couple of guys in a garage with a press and a punch could probably supply all of BMW. Knowing Toyota, this was financial. The BOM goes down $15 without them. $15 x 5,000 cars is $75,000.

I would be seriously considering at that point to get it replaced at another dealer then use that $650 and some change for a billboard stating those asshats told me to pay to play while the dealer across town took care of me.
