Right on brother! The big "what if" now is @ 1000hp for how long? Good stuff coming for sure.
When I said 1000hp would be done in less than a year....some people laughed. Also, Geo from Real Street is already working on getting the MKV Supra in the 10's within a month.
These PayNearMe ads...
Absolutely....Toyota from the beginning (and I had mentioned this a while back) wanted to make sure that “a Supra for everyone” would be made available. Like you said; track, daily, touring, etc... I agree that at this point much of the hype around the manual transmission offering seems...
My mistake...I meant 20-some-years ago (during the MKIV’s years). I’m no Chevy expert but the Z06 was on a hiatus after 63’ and didn’t come back til’ 2001, outside the MKIV Supra’s time, no? The only Vette’s “comparable” during the MKIV’s time I believe were the C4 “Grand Sport” til’ 1996 and...
Dude must have taken at least a $5k hit just driving it off the lot. Shame....but, that’s what happens when people make impulsive decisions without discussing it with their partners (at least based on the info provided).
Yeah, I wanna believe that Tada’s primary reason for not deploying a manual this early in the game had to do more with overall performance more than actual ability to offer a manual (cost, etc...). Hence why he threw hints of “...if there is a demand.” In other words, I believe that Toyota is...
Not to derail the thread talking about Subaru’s, but the WRX’s with the 6spd’s are basically the old 5spd’s with an extra gear. They are not very strong. Weight difference is negligible. The STI’s on the other hand have different gear sets, carbon synchro’s, beefier center section, and a host...
Sorry, I meant with all the supporting hardware (increased gear weight, transmission center sections, etc...). I know in the Subaru community, when people do “STI 6spd Conversions” on their 5MT WRX’s, the overall weight differs by ~100lbs if I'm not mistaken.
That very well might be the case. I know they usually are, but for example when you upgrade main caps, they usually are not the same material (Titan mains, etc...). I ask because the color of the main caps in the video are different than the inside of the block’s material...they are darker...
One thing to note....a manual option may be near ~100lbs heavier than the ZF auto. For some, that might not matter....but for a small car like the MKV Supra, weight is gold.
Just thought I'd throw that in the discussion.
Don’t waste your time bud, trust me when I say arguing with him will only lead to a downward spiraling thread. I like where this thread was going before, let’s just get back on track.
I am willing to bet that; oil filter, oil cooler, electric water pump, and intercooler relocation kits will be hot sellers for this car. Probably already in CAD by one of the tuners.
Where you at AMS??? :p
Both are fantastic cars.
I like to think of both these cars as rifles....the BMW M2 being an AR-15 and the Toyota Supra being an AK-47. Both will do serious damage, yet the M2 is a bit more precise and the Supra a bit more reliable.
