Sometimes mfrs offer the higher end one first before the base, if it's a highly anticipated vehicle. That way they can cash in on the enthusiast who are gung-ho to be the first! Once they deplete the cash rich gung-ho guys, then they go after cash poor guys...
Wasn't this from their good old days when they were just starting to chase Cadillac lovers looking for reliability....?
Really sad to see the Japanese market departing from Their roots to chase the American big and comfy car buyers.
Civic/Corola now are bigger and heavier than the original...
Before I bought my frs, I walked into a Lexus dealer to test their sports sedans, and when I asked, it seemed they had nothing under 4,000 pounds...the salesman suggested I go test drive a Frs. The rest is history....
By the way I'll take that 200 pounder of yours if you can find me one! ;)
My saddest day was when Porsche made its best selling vehicle that helped pull Porsche out of a hole...."the" Porsche SUV! Then came the four door sedan! I suppose Porsche minivan will be next too...
The Germans were starting to loose to the Japanese until they realized they need to reinvent every single model into several others to cover every single possibility to retain their clientele.....God only knows now how many models BMW, Benz or Audi offer when you consider all the markets across...
I'd venture a guess that a part of these declines were as a result of the mfr offering more models...so the sum of the totals may still be the same number...?
Audi was once A4 and A6, then came the A8, then A3, then A7, on and on! Soon they'll run out of round digits and will have to offer in...
Well, it's a lot more complicated than that. True a brand or model has to continually reinvent itself. Reinventing is what Honda, Toyota and Mazda did until they drove themselves out of the market...
First generation RX7, or the first generation Supra were nothing to write home about...
They already know that there are "deep pocket collectors" willing to pay $475-$500K for the 2005/2006 version with the Heritage paint job ($13K option). So it'll be an interesting gamble or an interesting calculated price/guesstimate...?
At $200K, "it seems" (?) they won't have much problem...
Just go to fordgt forum, and see how many are jumping over each other, ready to drop the cash at prices way over the $150K!
The question for Ford to figure out is, do they want to price it for a fast sell out, or price it at a hard to sell out-price...?
Seems at a limited production, there are...
I watched the coverage of the Detroit show last night, and the announcer said it is rumored to be in the $400K range! Ouch
I guess I won't be buying one, since no banks I know of keeps that much cash on hands for me to rub!!!
My speculation it is a high maintenance item and not cost effective to mfrs when under warranty. Also I don't think cost to benefit pays off for them if the General public doesn't care much, and doesnt necessarily reel in the buyers.
I have not driven one, but from the safety point of view...
Didn't one of the Honda Preludes and Mitsubishi VR4 or whatever it was called had four wheel steering. They were not super expensive systems but complicated maybe...?
Well, yes it was! But it was a funny one!!!! ;) Just pulling your leg!
You can read on if you promise to put on a smile...
Actually although it's hard to screw up shifting a bike while riding from Starbucks to Starbucks, it's not very difficult to implode the gearbox/engine of a bike while...
