He posted in another thread was doing 5k miles and had an AA catted DP with 93 tune. I'm really curious to know more about his use case and what others with similar miles have to say. Several say these motors are very strong so I'm surprised to hear otherwise.
Guys on here are making around 600hp with DP, Tune, flex fuel kit so your power goals shouldn't be too difficult. If your sick of the platform move on, you can always go back. Life is too short to drive the same car for too long.
I painted mine.
Sanded them down until the gloss was gone.
Cleaned with IPA
Primer base coat
Two coats gloss black
One coat clear.
Take your time, it's not difficult. First pair I did look like shit up close, but from 5ft away you can't tell. Second side actually turned out quite nice...
That all checks out. Theoretically nothing should have caused a turbo failure this earlier unless the car has been loosing oil like crazy and running low during high output.
Any other symptoms?
White/blue smoke. Rise in oil temp, loss in boost pressure, burning oil, generally bad performance.
It sounds like you've got something going on that's making you think you may have burned one up. What are your vehicles symptoms?
Yup sounds like Turbo is KIA.
OP, what oil are you running, how frequent are the changes?
Also, what other mods? You said 93 tune....but are you running factory Down Pipe?!
I haven't removed the ones on the Supra yet, but I typically use fishing line, get it under the badge and work the line to loosen up the tape and then pull towards me to get it off. These sound like more of a PITA though.
From experience with other vehicles, specifically the Subaru world, probably the best piece of advice you will get (IN MY OPINION) is go with a custom tune, not off the shelf. Loads of good tuners out there, I personally will be going with Visconti and doing his dynamic flex fuel kit and ECUTEK...
I don't think TPMS sensors have a wheel diameter specification precise enough to matter when going one size up, but I believe some wheels could have compatibility issue with OEM sensors and may require a proprietary version. (Someone correct me if I'm mistaken)
My 2cents... if the ones they're...
I had a good service experience, but it's obvious they are hardly prepared to deal with these cars. I went in for an oil change that I scheduled several days in advance. When I got there they said "Oh OK, its a supra, hold on let me call the tech in the back to make sure the one lift we have...
