Need and wants are two different things. Out of the box it's pretty quick. Do I need more power for street driving no, do I want more power for canyon runs and spirited driving of course.

Some companies may not have tested other model years. My HKS one says it's only for 6 port AT. They didn't test for other years. So when I install it on my 2020 it technically doesn't pass emissions.

The Z4 does have a manual option. Or do you mean one to match the power upgrade if there is one. Edit: I guess NA doesn't have it, Japan and Europe do.
