  2. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

0-60 times are more reliant on torque/weight ratio..but the comparison is silly anyways considering the Supra will most likely will be RWD not to mention the totally different price range.
  3. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

you would think but the vette still sells the best despite being twice as expensive...86 sales in the US have been pretty sad compared to the other coupes but in all other markets seems like the twins are faring much better.
  4. Wish List for the new Supra / Must Have Futures and Options!

lol i know this is an old post but come on....where does you get the idea that the 86 twins aren't selling? If they really weren't selling they wouldn't have made the 2017 updates, have more special editions, etc.. Compare Miata & 370z sales to the 86 twins and you'll see the hilarity. at...
  5. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

    average joe gets a corvette
  6. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

It is indeed worth the 6 figure price tag...the concerns aren't the fact that the new NSX isn't worth the 6 figures, the complaints are merely folks reminiscing of the 90s...they want high performance vehicles more accessible to the general consumer but people forget that the V6 in the original...
  7. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

nearly double the current price for the 86? no thanks, the 86 sits at a good spot. I don't want a turbo on an 86, it needs to stay as the classic lightweight NA sports car. While an entry level sports car would be cool, I think it would be a waste of time for Toyota, there are less and less...
  8. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

spec wise it is still worthy to benchmark one as a next gen powertrain...plus, I'm sure you know sales has no correlation to performance. The $100-200 K performance vehicle market is extremely saturated right now, probably more than ever. Couple that with branding and image being even bigger...
  9. Toyota Supra rumored to be offered with 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder base model

lol carscoops is awesome pls wake me up when this 4 cyl makes 400 HP especially when the previous M140i's inline 6 couldn't even make 350 HP and other brands are struggling to get 400 HP with their 6s..
  10. The Engine Speculation Thread

i get the argument, but that would be a hilariously tough ask to get through the boardroom especially when they couldnt agree to do the supra project on their own..relatively speaking though the lexus powertrains have usually been a generation ahead of the toyota ones, so technically there are...
  11. The Engine Speculation Thread

that would make me laugh as it would be quite hypocritical for Toyota to share their halo car with BMW but separate their own technology from their luxury lineup...not sure how that logically would make any sense for shareholders...the Lexus 2GR is now in the Highlander, Tacoma & the new Camry...
  12. Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

eh, the Corvette only has American appeal..it's popularity is mainly because it is their go to sports car for any retiree and its packaging is kinda poor...nearly a whole foot longer than the 86 despite no backseats and a tight trunk.. Yes, the 350Z is rather spacious for a 2 seater as both...
  13. Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

it isn't just for more practicality, the space for the +2 seating usually has a indirect effect on the amount of space the driver & co-driver have since the packaging is different. i remember how tight my father's MR2 was and the S2000 feels much more snug despite having nearly the same length...
  14. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

my point was it is very difficult to compare those cars with each other especially since the GT-R was only 1 particular model of the Skyline lineup and Honda never offered the NSX with multiple powertrains
  15. Why I'm NOT Hyped About The New Toyota Supra

...but how many were actually TT?
  16. Toyota Supra rumored to be offered with 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder base model

while I'm sure we'll see a 2JZ in one of the new Supras, it won't be any where near as popular as 2JZ 86 swaps since I really doubt the Supra will be less than 3000 pounds even being a 2 seater.
  17. Toyota Supra Interior Looking More Production in Latest Sighting

the 86/BRZ pretty much have a shared interior and the Miata/124 Spider are also pretty much identical..you would think with this being a more expensive platform that would result in more differentiation but I would imagine that goes against the point of sharing costs/platform/development with...
  18. Toyota Supra Interior Looking More Production in Latest Sighting

you would think that, but look at how window switches, door handles, steering wheel/column controls, etc get shared from different manufacturers with no attempts to differentiate such parts..
