The stamp on a part has very little to do with who designed it and a lot to do with who built it. Obviously if a part is straight from another BMW, it's a BMW part. If it's a Z4 or Supra part, then it's from the Toyota/BMW design team and the company name on that design engineer's paycheque is...
Following up, for no real reason, I've been doing further research on the S2000 transmission. Released information from automotive manufacturers rarely state the component manufacturer, or what other vehicles may or may not have used a transmission, still from this release it does seem like...
Interesting story: I am currently at University getting myself a degree in mechanical engineering and have been looking to do a 12-month internship/co-op work term in the fall of 2019. I've been considering looking for engineering work in Australia and New Zealand (among other places).

I'm all about dispelling myths and how hard it can be. (Toyota's internal documentation for the 2016 Tacoma listed an 8GR engine and it took me months or more to convince people it was actually a 2GR and it was just a typo after I was the one who posted the original information! I was correcting...
FWIW, the S2000 transmission may be made by Aisin (I haven't looked into it), but it is completely unrelated to the transmissions in the 86/FR-S/IS200/RS200/S15/RX8/ND.

Toyota's latest engines are going in a similar direction from a wiring harness point of view (V35A, A25A, M20A, etc.), very BMW-ish compared to past engines.

The JZA80 was a bunch of reused components from the Toyota/Lexus parts bin thrown together with a new body, brakes and interior. (Oh and a nice 6-speed transmission from the Germans).
It wasn't even the first car to use the 2JZ-GTE.

The Netz cup, TRD Turbo cars and the turbo Vitz GRMN and new supercharged Yaris/Vitz GRMN make me happy.
More is in the works for mine, hopefully soon.

For what it's worth, Toyota calls the engine in the FR-S the FA20 in all technical documentation, parts catalogs, on the cars themselves, in sales/accessory information. Everything official. The only time it was ever called the 4U-GSE was on some promotional materials in Japan before the car was...
Toyota's on-wheel cruise stalk is my ultimate preference for any cruise control. Second favourite is how BMW used to do it (think E28).
Buttons on wheel are the second worst.
