The full level according to my sensor immediately after oil change is between 94-95mm.
I see the low message come on at around 78mm. Adding a quart brings the oil level up 9-11mm. So Honestly I'm gonna start adding oil at 83mm. The low alert does not seem to appear until the oil level is down...
Short of getting some equipment and pulling one myself. I am looking for a full backfile of a MKV ECU/DME. Preferably post June 2020. Looking to do some research on the data and benefit the community. Thanks if you have one!
First off, I put this in Google sheets so it's more readable:
Google sheet
I took some more data points and learned some things, I really don't know where I'm going with this I'm just enjoying collecting the data. Maybe debunking the myths about the oil sensor being bad? Anyways here's some...
I really need a correlation between oil level and oil volume so I can estimate a burn rate, but I won't be able to accurately do that until my next change. Here is the data I've collected so far.
Key:
Trip - Trip was reset at last oil change
Odo - Current mileage
Idle - Oil sensor readout on...
I found my oil consumption to be inconsistent. One oil change resulted in a quart in 3k miles. Not a number I'm worried about in the slightest. After a second change, oil consumption was a quart in 1500 miles. Now, latest oil change I'm 900 miles in and do not see any change to my oil level...
I recently got my recall performed (2021 A91). No bricking but all of the changes coded in got reset. I have an MMI Prime for Android Auto and of course the AUX was coded in by Bimmertech, so I was not excited about having to setup another appointment. Long story short I did some digging around...
Right, I'm aware of that. It's concerning that my consumption rate doubled between oil changes. Maybe it wasn't filled all the way, who knows. Less concerned about my own car though, trying to understand if anyone has seen resolution after their consumption got serious
Has anyone in here had a resolution to their oil consumption? I started at a quart every 3k miles and now I'm seeing a quart at 1500 miles. I mean the car is under warranty so I'm not too worried. But has anyone actually gone through the whole process? Did Toyota/BMW give any reasoning to why...
