If it leaked enough fluid over time to damage the trans then there would be fluid over everything under the car aft of the trans not just something you only noticed when you removed covers. A small leak covers a lot of real estate.

Others have had this issue after a wheel change. I think it was down to a connector not fully seated but not 100%. Search the old threads and check my response. Phil
