The problem with your statement is that cars are only marked up when there aren't many available. No one is paying over sticker when there is an abundance of cars and dealers with those cars
10 cars for sale, 100 people want them, 10 pay over sticker, 0 cars remain
It's not that deep. Someone paid $200,000 for the first Type R but that did not determine the success of the model whatsoever.
This happens on every car this popular.
News flash: you do not have to buy it on day one. If for some reason you think you do, then you have no reason to be...
Oh I wholeheartedly agree that there will be a markup but that's in direct relation to supply and demand, not what makes the car a recipe for failure like you were implying. How long will a $10k markup last if they arent selling?
I believe there is a great deal of people who do want one...
Melodramatic much? Obviously that GM was talking out of his ass. I sold my E30 last weekend to the Parts Department Manager of a local BMW dealership who said the Z4 would be offered in a manual, but by using logic and critical thinking I concluded that it wasn't true.
Just like the mk4
Half of new cars have a screen top center in fundamentally the same way, its no different from a Lexus Rx or Mazda 3.
I am not saying that the A90 won't have BMW switches, but it is a stretch to say that ALL of them will be BMW parts from other cars.
Next we will say they are the same because...
The small parts are the ones we want to be shared between BMW and Toyota, it is what is keeps costs down. These small things when combined, quickly add up in time/energy/effort to not only design and produce the part, but to program it to work with the electronics of the car.
Quoted directly from the interior thread. The shape and design of the entire dash is different. Without Xray vision, we have yet to see anything that is the same
Even Tada has stated several times they are completely different but a lot of people are won't get over the fact it is being co-developed alongside BMW. They will turn a blind eye to everything he has said and jump to their own conclusions.
Do we all wish Toyota designed their own in-house...

I am still kinda curious about that since, excluding the S55, the BMW inline 6 family chokes after 6500 because of head and turbo(s). So I wonder if that means the Z4 is sandbagged from the factory, the Supra has a bigger/different turbo, or a combination of both since I'm assuming they wont...
Not to mention Tada stated that even the tunes of the vehicles are different.
Tada also mentioned software differences as a whole so we do not know what different features each car will have, such as launch control.
Gearing changes is also a possibility but I don't think they would change the...
Tada said they would be different. The only ones saying they would be the same are the pessimists of the group.
We can even see the shape to the dashboard between the cluster and Nav screens to be different as well with the Z4 as a continual slope and the Supra having the Nav screen raised from...
I love this color on their sedans and wagons. It is probably too tame for a sports coupe though.
On the other hand, the yellow and light blues on the m3/m4 are hideous
(I said Q70 but I meant G70, Infiniti and Genesis naming conventions are too similar lol)
While the LC-F may use a TT V8 or something in that nature, it doesn't strengthen the brand as a whole.
But they aren't doing well in that segment, the GS is in shambles and is set to be discontinued in...
So what's your point in all of this?
Toyota/Lexus wants to be seen making exciting cars again, yet puts 10 year old Sienna motors (hyperbole) in all their non high-output cars.
They have yet to even make a clear distinction between the Camry and GS to the average car buyer. Oh you want a car...
But is everything getting refreshed though?
LC is still new and it didnt get the V35a even though it is on the same platform as the LS. It theoretically doesn't need it to be competitive though.
If they were putting it in the newly refreshed RC, 2019 would have been the year to do it but it...
