Typical idiots that don't know how to close the hood. It will get worse (dents) if they press on it. Need to gently but deliberately throw the hood down from about 15-20".
When you look at the take-rate of manual in loosely related cars, it would seem high enough to justify it in the Supra, and this is based on sales data so we don't have to speculate or theorize about what people say versus do.
Subaru BRZ - 78%
Toyota 86 - 33%
BMW M2 - 40% **
Subaru WRX - 90%...
You could bring along a paint thickness tester and do spot checks, but I suspect the delay is just a matter of bad planning and logistics. They just don't seem to have it together for this launch.
Engines and transmissions are mated and attached to a powertrain far upstream in the process and joined to the car on the same production line. In fact, BMW/Magnasteyr will interchangeably mix different model vehicles on the same line in arbitrary order, with completely different powertrains...
Especially those of use who already owned an 86 and moved on. 86 was a great car and better than the Supra in some ways, but not in the same league overall.
How long? For a modern car stored under 3-5 months, I'd hook up a battery maintainer and air up the tires to a higher storage pressure. No need to make it more complex than that.
If they built a new car there would be a whole new timeline, they wouldn't be mixing in old info and new info. I just searched that VIN from the BMW decoder and it still confirms all the same info and early 2019 production.
BTW, my M2 Comp was delayed an extra week at port because of a port installed accessory the dealer added on -- wheel locks. Kind of annoyed me an extra week was burned just so they could swap 4 lug bolts, especially since I didn't want that accessory.
Hard to believe that car will be 5 months old by the time it gets to the customer. That is mind boggling to me. I hope it was taken care of while sitting at port all that time. They put a film on the horizontal surfaces, but I worry about vertical surfaces and other parts.
I have not been impressed with wireless charging on any devices -- seems like it's one of those technologies that is a cool idea but it has a lot of drawbacks (slow charging and overheating being common across the board). I used to wonder why Apple was so late to implement it but now I wonder...
Should be covered in your user manual. From a BMW manual, blue indicates that it is charging. Orange indicates that the device isn't charging due to a foreign object in the tray or a problem like overheating/etc. The LED will turn off completely if it stops charging or the device's battery is...
The cab-forward layout is the biggest factor driven by mid-engine, and from there the styling can't help but resemble mid engine Ferrari, NSX, etc. There is only so much that can vary if you want the majority of the powertrain to be in front of the rear axle. It's one of those basic packaging...
I think 85% of the C8's exterior look is driven by the mid engine layout. The rest is extremely similar to the C7, Camaro, and other corporate design cues.
I think Autotrader is just covering their butt, like a newspaper also would when publishing ads from a car dealer. Really, the dealer is responsible for their advertising and published prices and that is where the state laws come in. State law would hold the dealer accountable for those...
If you get in a pinch feel free to let me adopt your Supra temporarily -- I promise it will have a good home and I won't put more than 20-30 miles on it per day ;). Although I am tight on garage space right now so it will have to spend nights in the barn with my Kubota tractor (which I guess is...
Supposedly my X3 M40i can self-park but I have never used the feature because I've heard it's comically bad and it's not going to really save me time anyhow. So it seems like it has self-steering capability. I don't think there is a decoupling in those systems, since you still need redundancy...
Some applications require stretching for a proper fit of the body curvature, and XPEL surely accounts for this in their scanning/templating. One kit I put on many years ago required a massive amount of stretching to get the right fit. It was a PITA for me as a DIY installer but came out great...
