Multiple reviewers talked with Tada about engine reliability at the US intro, and he talked about how Toyota tore-down and analyzed the B58, and found it to meet their standards. Here is a good video from one reviewer, but there are many others you can read and find on Youtube if you care to...
Toyota did not make changes to the engine. It's been documented in several writeups and videos that they tore down the engine, noted concerns, did further testing, and found that the engine met all their requirements for reliability. You have to remember that the B58 was well along in...
Being an M2 Comp owner and prospective Supra buyer, I found this to be a good read if you can get past the verbose writing style:

Makes me wish the Supra offered an MT even more. While BMW manuals...
That is a good deal. It cost me about $150 just for the supplies to put on CQuartz, not counting paint correction or my labor (which is substantial). I normally ask dealers to leave the car wrapped and skip their detail in order to minimize paint correction work.
I don't have a good hour...
My god that is 99.9% BMW. I figured Toyota would at least make some changes (it's software after all) but there are only very minor wording and cosmetic tweaks. Good news is that BMW owners (and there are a few) will be at home with it all in the Supra.
I'm with you on the black wheels and red caps, just not feeling them. I could tolerate the black wheels, but when I saw them in person my off-the-cuff reaction was that they looked like those old school police car or taxi cab wheels back when they all had painted flat-black wheels. Tolerable...
Red caps are standard on LE. Carbon fiber caps would be a port-installed accessory if it's on the main window sticker. I have seen a few LE Supras spec'd that way. If that is the case, the caps would already be on the car when it arrives.
Insurance companies may not yet recognize the Supra VINs -- Nationwide did not when I attempted to add it to my account online to see a quote -- had to call in. I believe someone else here reported the same thing. So you might need to talk to a human to set it up and obtain proof of insurance...
I don't understand why this rollout wasn't executed better, but my guess is that somebody dropped the ball or the port/processing centers were not moving the cars through with any sort of priority. The other strange thing is how some dealers got cars but were not prepared with the new software...
This is certainly strange and I am surprised the OP isn't getting flamed worse. The title transactions alone will diminish value. If someone is going to pay a premium over MSRP it would be foolish to do it on a titled vehicle.
They are not run-flats, but still expensive. BMW and Toyota developed these with Michelin especially for the cars, and all suspension tuning and certifications were done with these tires. They are slightly out of date compared to newer Michelin offerings, but still quite good. However, they...
I would think twice about owning a car with matte paint. Personally, I am 50/50 on the look -- it's incredible in some cases -- but the maintenance/detailing issues would probably bother the heck out of me. Scratches and other damage can't just be polished out like you can do on a shiny...
On these BMW ECUs, the dealer can pretty much see the entire engine's history, including how the engine was treated, average RPM ranges, the RPM extremes, etc. I don't know if Toyota would use that information to deny warranty, but I suspect if there was a serious engine failure and they could...
BMW dealers here in my of Virginia can't keep them in stock. There were a half dozen in the area for sale when they first launched in the spring, but since then I haven't seen any in dealer stock. Everything that comes in is either a customer order or gets sold before it arrives. Part of this...
Be interesting to see if the dealers realize this. Come November I expect there to be good supply and hopefully dealers let the prices come back down to reality.
I have seen more than one BMW with "questionable" hood alignment caused by nothing more than the dual-latch hood not being latched on both sides. These hood latches seem to really elude some folks. Some bozos will actually try to readjust the hood alignment without realizing they are still not...
