I really think it's normal and won't be surprised if the replacement lamps do the same exact thing if subjected to the same conditions. People were conditioned by earlier lamp units or lamps from other brands that were sealed, but for the last 4-5 years BMW lamps have been vented. Moisture can...
I have only seen one other Supra on the road here, and that was back in July. Other than the one I test drove, I have yet to see another, on the road or in person. But that isn't surprising, as the car is produced in low numbers.
I owned my X3 M40i over a year before I saw another on the...
I don't think they have a different steering rack, probably just different software. With the latest generation BMW EPS systems, feel is pretty much down to how it's programmed to behave. The cars do have different suspension tuning, so that's another factor in how they would compare.
Not all the lamp units are weathertight, many are setup to vent to atmosphere. On those, it’s normal to see moisture under some rare circumstances. If this happened on multiple units front and back then it’s a strong suggestion a pressure washer was used on the car at some point. I don’t think...
Z4 and G20 3-series are the closest cars that share parts and generational design with the Supra. The M2/M2C are very much unrelated, being from a previous generation F-platform, and the M2C has running gear from the M4, also based on the previous F generation.
I bet the M2/M2C share some...
You will see that on cars without buffeting too -- it's a general recirculation in the gusset area, and it's quasi steady state. It can be fascinating to watch but also a dramatic indicator of drag/loss (since any flow that isn't going straight back is a telltale of parasitic drag).
The buffet...
If it's like other BMWs it will have a sticker on the gas cap that says recommended and minimum octane. Other B58s I have owned/driven list 89 as the minimum. I alternate between 89, 91, and 93 in my M40i with a B58, and honestly can't tell the difference. I wouldn't use 87.
I meant to convey that I don't think he was even racing yet, or trying to go fast, it was just a fluke that can happen at any speed. But I wasn't there and Jackie is here, so he can respond. He has demonstrated plenty of good driving, so I have no reason to doubt his skills.
Try autotrader.com, sort by distance from your zip code. It shows me all the Supras near me. This is not something you need to do by word of mouth on a forum, at least not now, months after launch.
I don't think Jackie was even going that fast when he crashed the Supra, at least not from the video that I recall. I'd say this was the kind of mistake any driver can make at any speed, and thankfully this was lower speed. You can debate whether or not this was inattention, inexperience, bad...
Have you looked in the user manual? At least on BMWs with LC, there is a pretty good writeup on how it works and when it does/doesn't work. There are some caveats and limitations.
Typical for BMW double latch hoods. Don't be timid with it, give it a good throw downward from 20". You can actually do damage by shutting it cockeyed and/or trying to press it.
These are borderline scammy profit makers for a dealership, so I wouldn't put any weight on what they tell you about pricing and I wouldn't read much into it. They could probably sell it for $100 and statistically still make money.
