Try to find the light sensor and see if it responds to a flashlight. On many recent models, it’s hidden in the instrument panel. Is only the center display dim, or also the instrument panel?

It’s not cracking, it is the chrome plating on the inside of the logo (under the clear plastic) flaking off. I think some part of the manufacturing process went wrong and didn’t let the chrome paint/coating stick right.
