It seems that the ability to have your texts read aloud and to reply is phone dependent. When I try, the system tells me that the feature is not supported by the bluetooth device. So I guess iPhones don't play so well with iDrive (something I've heard before). I can reach the messaging screen...
It's not just iPhone only. However, I may have mistakenly misled you. I thought it was an iDrive option, but it looks like it's a Bimmercode coding option. Apologies, it's been a minute since I set all this up.
If you have Bimmercode, it's in The Supra coding menu under Head Unit/Display...
Ditto
I use and iPhone. I do not use Apple CarPlay in my Supra and only use the iDrive features. The only notification I get of a text message is the little icon in the upper right corner. No sound, no pop-up, no other alert of any kind. There is a setting that gets the system to display...
I use Thinkware cameras, but lots of folks use the Blackvue systems and love them. If you end up hardwiring one, just be aware that the electrical system on BMWs are very averse to the parasitic draw that happens with hardwiring cameras. I followed the advice of many and used a battery backup...
I think Teslas have that feature where the camera footage is available like that. It's why I have dash cams in all our cars. One of the first things I did to the Supra. I get mad just listening to your story.
Thanks. I just hit up a local shop near me to see if they can do it. I assume if there's a template then it's just a matter of them cutting it. I may take you up on that offer if they come back with some crazy price or have no idea.
Did you go through XPEL directly for that or do you have a shop? I have a pre-cut PPF for my screen but it's matte, and I'm thinking I'd prefer something that doesn't reduce screen quality. Glare isn't a huge issue for me
Yeah, I don't think it's very sophisticated. I'm sure it's just the BMW iDrive system taking a low battery alert and sending out to your phone or something like that.
Like many folks, my car had the "Replace Battery" warning on when I test drove it. My dealership replaced the battery before I...
I seem to remember it's the "Remote Maintenance", but I can't remember where I read that. It only sends you a warning if your battery level drops below a certain level, not like it shows you your current charge state. I'll see if I can dig up the documentation on it.
Yeah, I’m not sure if you’re kidding or not. That’s the front radar for the driver assist (adaptive cruise control). If you have the driver assist package I would not drill it.
No issues as far as quality or current condition. I would say the fit was "good". Not OEM and if I had spent a few minutes working on it, could have been great, but I sorta slapped it on there. Here are some more pics of the piece, and the only other shot I have of it on the car.
