I was under the impression that the rear hatch lid was actually a plastic composite and not steel. Not sure where I read that, but I would imagine if it's actually a composite, it would have a better chance of regaining it's original shape if the stress were relieved.
Well, I just got back from the dealership for my ToyotaCare free oil change (which miraculously, they got right). I wanted them to look at this, and I was able to demonstrate the issue to the service advisor when I dropped it off (not my regular person, though). When I went to pick up the car...
It's in the trunk under the panel (where the battery is) just forward of the battery. I would be careful with how much you handicap the unit, I seem to remember @Guff had some issues with the car working correctly when the thing wasn't connected.
Edit: Looks like it sits under the subwoofer...
I don’t think it has anything to do with your phone sending anything anywhere. The Supra has its own LTE modem for data (news, weather, traffic, etc). The car communicates with the BMW Connected Drive servers autonomously. This is how they manage subscription services like CarPlay (among other...
I hope so. Going in for my yearly next week and I’m going to have them chase it down. Hopefully upgrading to the latest release will do it and not cause any new issues.
I just checked mine tonight and CarPlay is still working. It’s a 2020 I purchased in January. I don’t drive it a lot so if it has to be on to receive ota updates it may not have gotten one. I’ll keep checking periodically.
Definitely sounds like a subscription thing
2020 Premium (9/19 build)...
Mine's been doing this from day one. It seems to happen more frequently now...I can repeat it regularly. I'm on the fence about having the dealer chase it down. It's annoying as hell, but I worry that their "fix" may actually cause more problems. Seeing more and more cars with the revving...
I would say that's not at all normal. New cars with less than 500 miles on them don't just stall. I'd say do the usual, make sure you didn't get some bad gas, check for codes and then bring it to the dealer if it continues.
Edit: Sorry you're having trouble with your second new Supra.
As I understand it, Bimmercode doesn't actually disable the Start/Stop feature, it actually enables last setting memory, so if it was off last time you shut off the car, it remains off next time you start it up rather than defaulting back on. If it was on last time you turned off the car, then...
Mine just did it this morning. I opened my door to get something, held the volume knob down to turn off the car, and while I was still sticking my head in the car before I even shut the door, I could hear the wiper twitching. Never started the car. I'm working up the energy to have my service...
Well I’m glad it’s fixed. I’m gonna have my service folks look into it and at least update my code. I’ve already accepted the fact that I’ll have to redo all my BimmerCode changes but oh well
That's great. Any information you can get on what they did would be huge help for us folks who have been chasing this for a long time. I plan on giving this issue to my service guys and would love to have as much info as possible to help them out.
