  1. I found a OBD GPS tracker on my car after two months of power issues.

I have a Scanguage OBD reader connected at all times, and it never sets off the alarm. I did read in the owner's manual that this could happen. Some auto Insurance companies offer a discount if you allow them to install a speed sensor of some sort, but I would never go for it.
  2. Soft closing doors / kick sensor on Supra MKV

While we occasionally go grocery shopping with the Supra, I'd guess that an SUV/Van-type foot-waving hatch unlock sensor is not on the average Supra owner's wish list. Our Lexus SUV does have a soft-closing hatch feature.
  3. Spring rates

I found this (Motortrend): "Spring rate is the amount of force required to compress a spring 1 inch, while spring load is the force required to compress a spring to a certain height. For example, a 350-lb/in spring requires 350 pounds of force to compress 1 inch. A spring that compresses 2...

  5. Brake Fluid maintenance?

  6. Starter Troubleshooting

Good points. Side note: I have noticed that my starter will kick on when voltage gets down to about 12.1. Perhaps Razorlab is correct. That would certainly help.
  7. Starter Troubleshooting

That could be, and also, the starters could've been upgraded. Most modern day starters last a much longer time. It'd be great to be able to find out what the root cause was -one of the benefits of dealership feedback to Toyota, IF their tech did the warranty work.
  8. Starter Troubleshooting

Phil, there are quite a few hybrid owners out here with 250,000+ miles on their cars and 15+ years of age. I'm a moderator in a Lexus forum. Our Lexus engine is doing just fine - doesn't burn oil at all at 140k miles. But I agree that the old saying "An engine's greatest wear occurs at...
  9. Starter Troubleshooting

I would think that vehicle manufacturers would at least ensure that components would last beyond the warranty period after worse-case conditions.
  10. Southern hot climate - semi aggressive driving - stock - 0w-20, 0w-30, or 5w-30 Motul/Liquid Moly?

I recently spoke to the oil tech guy at Liqui Moly after looking at their main and rod bearing clearance table. Oil viscosity recommendations in this table are based upon bearing clearances and operating oil temp. The website also contains an oil selection guide. For the GR Supra 0W-20 is...
  11. Starter Troubleshooting

Our 2006 Lexus RX400h starts and stops many, many times during every outing. I agree with Phil that mileage means little. It's more the traffic and length of drive during heavy or medium traffic. I read that hybrids have very heavy-duty starters. We've never had to replace ours. Why wouldn't...
  12. Starting to see discounts and deals on new GR Supra

There are no advertised discounts on the toyota.com website. There are some MSRP listings, including a manual or two. (in Southern Cali)
  13. SoCal Inland Empire Meetups!

It was great meeting you, in-person Jimmy. I have four brothers-in-law who were active military for 20-30 years. They all ended up here in San Diego after being retired from the service. Good luck on your new adventure. I guess there'll be one less Mikan Blast 45th in the area. I just...
  14. Anyone see any orange 45th anniversary Supras on the road?

So they were going to release it, over two years ago and only now are they actually producing it?
  15. Anyone see any orange 45th anniversary Supras on the road?

I had to laugh when I saw this. Talk about Nissan's brazen copycatting....
  16. What would you do? Help!

Why would I have regrets about installing my Scangauge? I still have it and am glad I do.
  17. What would you do? Help!

I originally moved out when I was 21, but discovered that it was very difficult to save when I was paying rent and going out all the time. At 23, I moved back home. At 27, I drove 3000 miles to CA and shared a house with a retired Navy guy. At 32 I got married, immediately after which my wife...
  18. Best springs?

I have to ask: Why did you want to do this?
  19. To M2 or not to M2

The auto Supra does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, so it looks like the Supra has a slight edge in acceleration.
  20. To M2 or not to M2

the increase in power allows for a 0.1-second shave in 0-60 mph time for a 4.1-second sprint in manual transmission form and 3.9 seconds in dual-clutch garb. I guess the extra weight does have its disadvantages!
