I just talked to my friend who’s a BMW tech and he said they were just informed Toyota is bricking over 7% of the ECUs due to incompetence. Meanwhile, no reports of BMW bricking their customers. Surprise, surprise.
Thanks for the advertising on this thread. You are 100% wrong about the wait for a *new* ECU. I can put you in touch with 2 owners who have been told that, due to shortages, they are looking at early 2022. They’re choosing to have a new ECU and not to have a mediocre tuner fuck with it.

My Supra is 75% DIY and 25% performance shop. Toyota is clueless. After my tires were rotated and the tech told me, “I hate working on these,” I never went back.
I daily mine. Heat eats these tires bad. I go through a set every summer in Austin. Get the 4Ss. A great performance tire. I could probably go further on my tires but I’m on top of stuff like that: change the oil every 3k, brake fluid every 10k, diff every 15, and transmission every 30. If you...
Two of my local Supra buddies have trashed headunits too as a result of the recall.
On one Supra they also broke a wire when changing the cabin air filter. His Supra will be at the dealer for weeks. They put him in a Corolla loaner. He’s loving life.
The Tundra dude gave me the whole “you know that’s not a Toyota, right?” BS, and started in with how his 392 Charger is faster, that my “little V6 couldn’t pull a greasy string out of a dog’s ass…blah blah.” I offered to meet and race him but he declined.
I didn’t mention the Tundra owner dissing my Supra. So, yeah, an asswipe. As for the dealership, the GM got an earful and I filed a complaint with regional.
