Yeah I am disappointed with Chris review. We all know the bmw partnership ans clearly if we're still here at this point we've accepted it. Let's not forget the A60 had some lotus tuning in there
But I would have actually liked to hear about the car rather than his opinion. I do like his stuff...
and if it were you, given you have an 86 (I had one too) and a proper-powered 6 speed A80.... would you wait for a manual, or is the ZF8 enough fun? :P
i've watched a lot of reviews now - all/most of the US ones
what are the best ones to watch now, that actually give good/new insights and not just shit we've already heard before?
not to shit on your parade, but torque is multiplied at the wheels. engine torque is less than wheel torque. it is less than 427ftlbshj at the engine.
imagine it like a lever. rotational torque at the engine is multiplied through torque convertor, then gear ratio, then final drive ratio, then...
without doing the calcs (which, without the data on the ZF8 torque converter is nigh on impossible) I'd estimate between 500-550Nm at the engine for the peak torque...
Remember torque his multiplied to the rear wheels, not lost, like power.
Also power outputs are to DIN specification which states MINIMUM power output.
Same for my Benz: 437whp on a car with 456hp advertised
Kind of what I was expecting. Right in the ballpark with the A45 AMG/RS3/M2 etc.
However, Toyota AU did an awesome job on GT86 pricing (only 29,990 starting) which was super competitive - so I guess we were all hoping for the same luck on the A90.
