If I understand your post and you are referring to carbon build up on the rear face of inlet valves then fuel additives have zero effect because it's a DI engine. For walnut blasting it's a remedial action and has no preventative aspect to it all.

Well thats probably a better running in strategy than babying it around like an old lady driving to church. Not the optimal break in strategy mind.

Well...I must admit modern engines are pretty well cleaned during assembly but I still change the oil and filter these days at 1000klm. This is the point of the greatest wear materials in the oil short of a failure of some sort. Why not spend the 100 bucks and flush them out? On the engines I...
My former brother in law was once the financial controller here in Melbourne for one of the the biggest Japanese car manufacturer. He took his wife and 2 kids on an all expenses paid week to Hong Kong on the back of their service departments sales of injector cleaner. I told him it should be...
Does it stop if you hold the shifter? So is it the shifter assy or is the shifter transmitting a noise from the engine or the gearbox.
What about the shifter boot trim etc?
Is it the std setup or do you have an aftermarket shift knob and boot setup?

Just one of those design issues that sneaks through testing and R&D sometimes. It Happens regularly. It's why I never buy a new model of anything until the design has had time to mature and thats a minimum of 2-3 years. In this case it's in the annoyance category. Focus RS's had a similar issue...
The rotor bolts are only there to retain the rotor when the wheels are off by and large. I'm not surprised the rotors aren't not totally solid with the wheels off. The wheel studs/bolts are the primary retention method for the rotors.
Or this. Gregs stuff is worth watching. Not just the WW2 aircraft stuff but his automotive stuff as well. He's written some books on turbocharging and has 2 businesses in the automotive space as well as his commercial pilots gig. The thread relevant stuff starts at 1m20 seconds.

Ok that's a massive cost difference. Track days on the bike at Phillip Island which is arguably one of the top 5 race tracks in the world is $350aud plus the cost of sharing a garage with 4 others, usually around $30 each if you want to. You can just be out in the open if you like. Broardford is...
Disappointing. Make sure you/they inspect closely the seal seating and the running surfaces for machining defects before you/they fit new seals. Sounds obvious I know but I've seen people change seals on the same component more than once when the issue wasn't the seal but the component seating...
Driving home from up the coast a month ago in the DD and I was followed by a Track prepped Supra for around 5 klms before he shot past me and then I followed him for a few more Klms. Anyway it was lowered, wheels and a custom full graphics paint job advertising something I couldn't clock from...
Pull the oil access cover off and use a flex shaft magnet on on a stick to sweep over the interior of the cover. I can tell you some stories of being an aircraft engineer on flying boats and dropping tools if you like.

I ordered from them and the product and service were first class. Best part is the postage costs were very good as they shipped direct from the manufacturer. The costs of postage from the US to here makes buying some stuff impractical these days. A set of carbon dash stick on strips that sells...
The "my clutch is slipping" and every MK5 manual clutch is going to blow up and we'll all need an upgrade only lasted for a few pages if memory serves. As is common with these things on forums it all just dissipated as noise eventually does in an internet Eco chamber. No horror stories, blown up...
