Maybe the nova suede and leather interiors that came on top trim 300ZX’s (so rare nowadays...damn craigslist), but tweed interiors aren’t all that. Sure there is more of it than plastic, but it has its ups and downs....keeping it clean is one of them. I just love how the Supra’s interiors feels...
Depending on how well it was maintained, a MKIV’s interior is very high quality. The soft touch buttons, “higher” quaity plastics, and overall design is....in my opinion...well above average for it’s time! I have a 1991 300ZX, and if you see the interior you will think the car was never driven...
If the interior looks like that, count me out. One of the things I loved about the MKIV Supra, was it’s simple yet high quality cockpit-like interior. That rendering looks way too much like a Camry’s interior.
DCT to be shared with the Z4??? What other BMW would this be out of??? M3/M4? M2? Reason I ask is....of it’s anything like the E46 Getrag SMG, the bellhouse was interchangeable with the 6spd Getrags. It’s true, people do this swap all the time. I’m thinking it might be possible down the...
Right! “We hungry!” Not just injectors alone....but say u go with a huge turbo, upgrade pumps, bigger lines, etc....what would yeild you more power, 6 or 12 upgraded injectors? This isn’t new, Toyota has been doing this on their 3.5l Lexus motors for some time now. Only difference is, this...
Why soitenly!!! So, by injecting gasoline at high pressure directly into the engine’s combustion chamber, direct injection more precisely measures fuel than conventional fuel-injection systems. This is generally one direct injector per cylinder (i.e., IS250, VW Golf, Audi’s, etc...) see image...
Is this true!?!?!?
I was at my local Toyota dealer over the weekend getting some 2JZ parts for my build, and while I was waiting for parts....I asked the guy in parts (while one of the master techs was next to him), "do you guys have any knowledge at all on the MKV Supra....anything at all!?!"...
That's exactly why I am very doubtful that the MKV Supra will be a GT-R competitor. Even if they price it at $100k, 450hp+, 2900lbs, DCT, etc... it still won't be a competitor to the GT-R. What most people fail to realize, is just how much R&D has gone into and continues to go into the GT-R...
Yeah, I also don't think Toyota will build a GT-R competitor out of the box. The price alone would not make the MKV Supra a competitor to the R35 GT-R. The R35 GT-R has reached supercar status...and with Nissan's continuous improvement vision for the future of the GT-R, it will most likely get...
Very good point! The general Supra enthusiast was probably assuming that the drivetrain would be a Toyota drivetrain, and not a collaboration. Had the enthusiasts known, I am sure they would have added, “as long as it’s a Toyota inline six.”
One a different note, I was thinking about the...
It’s probably safe to assume that 500-600HP will be attainable with a bone stock BMW bottom-end....but “any racer....any real racer” will probably crack open the block and reinforce it properly....BMW or not. I personally am building a 2JZ, and while I know they can handle crazy power on stock...
Lord have mercy, that FT-1 Concept is just a work of art! Gorgeous! I really really really hope the production car looks very close to this thing.....SEXY!
A discrepancies maybe?:
The article states, "By comparison, the outgoing 370Z has a turbocharged 3.7-litre V6 powerplant that delivers 323bhp and 268lb ft." The current 370Z is 330hp NA.
I'm a big fan of Nissan (if you haven't already noticed)....and I sort of figured they would come back...
Toyota needs to go with formula's that work...and have been proven! why spend $500 million on developing a manual transmission??? That ludicrous!!! There are plenty of out-of-the box manual transmissions that they could use if they want to add a manual that would not only be 100 times...
Interesting article, thanks for the post! Here are my thoughts on a few key points Tada spoke of:
"As a state-of-the-art piece of hardware that will no doubt do its job to the letter, the Supra is a triumph. Its curves set a sporty tone and it drips with street cred, but it’s not quite as...
I know it's all camo'd out and such....and I know its still in testing phase, but I just can't see that "camo'd/production" car looking anything like the GR Supra Concept....I just can't. I hope they are making it look this ugly on purpose....because it just doesn't have nice lines in these...
With over $25k in upgrades, they were only able to squeeze ~50hp out of the LC's V8??? This is what bothers me so much about post-2000 Toyota, they lost their "edge" in providing solid foundations for tuning.
