  1. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

A friend of mine owns ECU Master USA, and if I was to switch standalones or redo it I'd go that route hands down... there is a lot of support for emerging tech with each revision too. Beyond that, I'd probably go to John Reed and request he build me one of his Motec JZ packages and never look...
  2. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

it was and still is the latest fad... 10:5:1 on e85 being the most common I've seen. it also translates to crazy tq figures and some pretty epic driveability out of boost. I have a few buddies that have been running high power, high compression setups for years now without issue. It's just...
  3. Most revealing 2020 Supra prototype spy pics yet, Spotted 3/19/18!

yep, there's a reason it has that weird line down the side of the fender lol
  4. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

the NA 2Js that are non-vvti are every bit as stout as the GTE, but the intake manifold sucks and then there's the high compression and AFM. most folks run an aftermarket manifold, MAP sensor, and just toss in a thicker headgasket to drop the C/R. from there on out, you can make power and do...
  5. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

well, we have now seen that the car is essentially the Toyota Supra by Gazoo Racing, so technically all the Supras are GR Supras based on that. that said, I expect the GR+/GRMN or whatever higher trims are available to be a premium above the initial $50-55k for the base turbo car.
  6. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

I'm just sick of seeing all the back and forth on the subject, and seeing as how he was saying that as recent as the start of this year I'm pretty certain that's still the price target. ... but, things do change and as said above there may be an NA 6 or turbo 4 (still haven't heard anything...
  7. New rumors from C&D: 2020 Supra to get BMW inline six engine / B58 & S58 chat

the car absolutely is BMW powered and the I6 is the main element, but the remaining question I have without actually seeing an open engine bay is if the motor is truly still a B58. I feel it may technically be a "new" motor given some refinements, but I haven't had a chance to ask some of the...
  8. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Unless there is a 4cyl or NA entry level model, the car should be in the 50s. Several individuals asked Tada point blank (in front of me and others) how much the Supra Turbo would be and Tada said, I'm thinking $50-55k. Yes, there are a ton of unknowns around the higher spec cars, especially...
  9. The Supra has finally been spotted in Japan!

    mostly correct ^
  10. Collection of information: what we know so far

IIRC: the wing, at least at first, was added by dealers to turbos because it was not yet DOT approved when the car was being manufactured. I remember an interview with the chief engineer and he was talking about it.
  11. The A70TTR Dedication Thread!

I believe it was considered, just as most things were, especially items present on the FT-1. My understanding is that the active spoiler was not implemented due to added weight and cost.
  12. The Supra has finally been spotted in Japan!

different headlights/taillights might provide some insight.
  13. Supra spotted with production wheels

there were discussions on it, but I thought it died along with the talk of the 4cyl/hybrid/etc. now I'm not so sure, but it would surprise me a bit.
  14. The A70TTR Dedication Thread!

Not to my knowledge. I do recall the cars being designed by the same guy (or heavy involvement), but the V35 platform predated the R35 concept by 2-3 years, let alone the R35 production car. I wouldnt be shocked if the early concept shown above was built on the V35 chassis however. For...
  15. Supra spotted with production wheels

yes they have; Ford believes their future is Mustang, crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. I guess they're fine giving up all that market share... also, for a company doing most awesome in the department of fun IMO, that new CEO has pretty much ensured they are boring as a brick wall for the next...
  16. Supra spotted with production wheels

yeah, it has been posted a few times; it was more just about Tada reposting that vs the 1000 other interviews he did. only reason I was throwing it out there is because folks are talking about different tire sizes. as for North America, a normally aspirated version would be odd for the same...
  17. Supra spotted with production wheels

Tada reposted a Forbes article on his FB that says there is an NA and TT variant of the car, just FYI. I think that was already posted on here several times, but perhaps a little more interesting that he shared it.
