they basically just don't want to sink any more money into it according to Tada... typically accounting. they have also been busy with the new "sports car" so we may see Tada do one more update to the 86 before he retires (he is actually only still working because Akio personally bumped his pay...
zero development has been done on an 86 successor, so that car will be sold as-is for a few more years and/or discontinued unless they do the right thing and throw the FA20DIT into it. wishful thinking most likely since Subaru seems to have an aversion to putting anything into the car...

I wonder what a Cayman weighing 250lbs less with a ZF8 would do?

Jokes aside, I think there's gonna be plenty of tunability for folks to enjoy and maybe some options from the dealer ;)
........ toyotally hypothetical of course *cough*
well, either way, I hope someone raises all sorts of hell and gets a manual or at least a DCT into the car.. if that has to be the GR or GRMN, well at least it existed somewhere.
R35 is 110k USD last I checked and LC500 is like 105k USD IIRC, so yeah I can see how that would end up being confusing.
I've also heard things like the 86/BRZ being equivalent to ~50k USD in parts of europe and what not, which is CRAZY.
I have 3 friends, one with an IS-F, one with an RC-F, and one with an M2. All are considering this new car, so yes people cross shop them and all fit the same demographic.
I understand some of you think that because it has a Toyota badge that's not possible, but it very much is, and I look to...
the LC-F is supposed to cost around $150k, so nah it's not even close. at that point, prestige and raw numbers are a big part of the price even if it's not killer on lap times. think new NSX for pretty much all intents and purposes. Barely any faster than the GTR and yet costs $50k more.
will...
Cost is always up to marketing beyond an initial forecast set by accounting afaik.
So it's really tough to know that with any degree of certainty until the preorder stage.
If you mean a range, then that's a different story
That is true. Although I personally believe if they swqp the trans, it will be for DCT or something similar in the GR cars.
Thats purely conjecture however.
Yeah, there's a reason it was dropped. It was likely one of two things IMO, either BMW didn't want them to have a manual (very unlikely), or Toyota didn't think the ends justified the means (likely).
Just like others have said before, this car caters to a similar crowd as the Lexus F cars, and...
