I'll just add one thing:
Details and numbers have their place, but the driving experience is the end all. Everyone can complain that 86 isn't an AE86 successor because of Subarus and boxers, but I've driven both extensively, and I can honestly say that there very much is a shared experience...
I hate to say it, but don't count on it. I'm about 80% sure that it'll be a ZF8HP TC Auto, in both the Z4 and Supra. There's a chance for the DCT, but I don't think BMW really wants to put it in a non-M car.
Personally, I like the ZF box better than almost all DCTs, but most people won't agree...
Yeah, exactly right. Toyota implemented it nearly a decade ago in their UR motors and it's now in almost all of their engines. It's fantastic tech, I'm a big fan of it. And Toyota knows everyone wants it so they use it as a bargaining chip in projects like these. Ford recently implemented their...
Well, I think it's pretty likely D4S is the headlining (lol) addition for head revision. Toyota wants it in everything and I'm sure BMW would love the tech. Good news for us because it means port injectors will be swappable if we want more fuel.
As far as trans goes, I doubt it's an Aisin...
We're very lucky to have him IMO because while a few of us also are occasionally getting info from various inside sources, we aren't at liberty to discuss it on the internet without getting into big trouble :p.
As with anything though, take everything with a grain of salt. Things are always...
Alright guys! It took a little bit, but here's the first episode of the Albon in Japan series, proudly supported by SupraMKV.com, of course!
In the series, we're exploring Japanese culture, the significance of cars in Japan, and what it is that makes a JDM car so special. It's shaping up to...
Yeah, that's just a Nur-Spec Zenki 86 (Circa 2012) with a BBK on it. Also, the factory car comes with 2 piston sliders from the factory, not single piston lol. I'm assuming the article meant 4 piston fixed, but there have been 6 piston TRD Brembos and 4 piston Performance Pack options for years...
Cayman S, good benchmark, but perhaps a little lower on outright performance than most people were thinking? Certainly bang on for vehicle dynamics though. :D
Man, I used to draw so much back in High School, but I haven't picked up my sketchbook since then. Maybe if I find time, I'll try to draw something. I never was great at cars though haha. ^^That drawing is gorgeous though!
Then, how can we forget? The hearbreaker herself:
And lastly, the 86-based HV-Sports Concept. Yeah, it looks super weird, and it'll never make it to production, but it's all good Toyota, you do you:
Oh yeah, and then there was the GRMN Yaris, which was technically the most...
UPDATE 2: Here's the coverage of the Toyota Event. Nothing too special, unfortunately, but still nice to see some of these concepts IRL.
Beyond the Mobility Concepts, there were a few cool cars, such as the new Toyota Century:
And of course, the Toyota TJ Cruiser Van-Thingy...
