That hood looks so much better after paint. Exposed CF looks so unfinished on such a large part.
At least you found a place willing to do your alignment.
Don't worry OP: Every platform has it's "purists" that skoff at anything different from the norm. You should see all I dealt with my previous platform. Some can't accept the idea that there's more than one way to skin a cat LOL.
I thought about making a post about how I'm using Hawk brake pads...
I highly recommend these. I have a set and the feel is phenomenal. I've since used a set of OEM and those now feel like they are sitting in a bowl of oatmeal. LOL
All of what you're saying is true but beside the point.
None of the situations you describing are new. A Honda Civic has a clutch that lasts longer than this.
It's not like people all of a sudden started driving different when the Supra came out with a manual transmission.
But it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to design a clutch that will hold up to normal abuse. They've been doing it for decades. There's no way that they did so little testing as to not be able to simulate 10,000 mi for the average driver.
Not to say that the clutches that are failing haven't been...
Late to this conversation..
I see people saying to upgrade, etc. That's cool and all... but a stock clutch on a stock car should not need to be upgraded. This is horrible and I feel badly for the owners dealing with this. You can't tell me Toyota didn't put more than 10k miles on their test mules.
I've honestly never noticed. I do have a car where I sit about 14" off the ground, so the mirrors are up higher, to get a decent view of the cars beside me. THOSE mirrors block most of my view of corners and pedestrians. Maybe, compared to that, the Supra seems okay to me.
Fun, yes but it ruins the compound. Yeeears ago, a friend of mine drove in the snow with his track day tires. Next track day, they were boogering up REALLY bad and he was sliding everywhere. No grip. We had a theory. A few years later, we're reading tire manufacturer's literature and sure...
Sure ridiculous if you are okay with comparing apples to oranges. The 23 is expected to be faster than the 22 because the car has been updated. The time difference in shifting between the MT and AT is going to be less than the time difference due to the rest of the car being revised. So, no...
I followed my gut and avoided today's round of the Bimmer Challenge. The risk of towing a car and hitting snow, high winds, and road closures was more than I was willing to take. I lost out on my entry fee and motel, but at least got the money back from the track day insurance. Still out a ton...
